We have power back! We're so lucky that the worst was some water into the garage and power outage. We're hoping the remaining folks going in the dark get their power back soon!

We'll be curing models tonight and seeing how much can be ready for shipping out tomorrow, but not going to rush things just because we're excited to have the lights back on. A little clean up to do around the shop, but otherwise we're turning the key on getting back to work.

An update from our shop on the hurricane and our cleanup:

All orders were printed before the hurricane took out our power.

We did get all orders cleaned after we lost power.

Several orders require UV curing still, but we don't have power at this time.

We will get all orders through the cure process as soon as electricity returns.

The orders that are ready to ship, will go to the post office Monday or Tuesday, pending post office availability.

We sincerely apologize for any delay in your orders and thank everyone for their patience as we recover from tbe hurricane. Our shop had some water intrusion, but no major damage and nothing discovered at this time to prevent us from returning to service as soon as the power comes back on.

Again, thank you to everyone for your understanding and patience as we work to get back in business.

Pushed as far as I could this week, but we have a hurricane about to hit us right on the nose. We have prep to do for the storm so the shop has to temporarily shift focus to that and pause all model work. Im sure we'll do fine and might get some model painting done. We'll see how it goes...

Processing several orders this week and working on some commission design work on the PC. Taking a mental break to review everything under design and sort through the endless design ideas for what's next. We have 23 projects going to market over the following weeks. I'm not kidding when I say I have some 50 different designs already started. Trailers, trucks, train cars, heavy equipment, cars/trucks/vans, aircraft, boats/ships, buildings/details, and sci-fi... even plans on turning the flatbed truck into a zombie apocalypse gun truck kit because I'm just weird like that!

Maybe some feedback from followers will help bring the next design to reality....

What would you like to see designed and produced?
Maybe another trailer type?
Maybe another truck or semi tractor?
Farm equipment?
Construction equipment?

Comment below to be heard and if I can figure out how to run a poll, I'll gather ideas and one of the next designs could be chosen by our valued followers and fans!

Update on the crane truck diamond plated battery boxes: the support pads are driving me crazy... just not good enough for VALT's standards.

I know, I know... to quote an amazing longtime friend and modeler: "but how much of that detail will you actually see in the end?"

I find nothing wrong with that question, but if you know me, you know i always have an answer and even when I don't!

To me, details are like camouflage. Camouflage breaks up the hard lines and silhouettes. Your eyes decipher what they see and tell your brain there's something there. The more detail, the more definition, the more saturation you get at smaller scales. That's what makes our tiniest models feel like they're bigger than their scale. The penny photo will be required for this build as people thought the HO scale Peterbilt kit was 1:24 scale! Not every modeler will be drawn to this and that's OK! However, if you want a model with way too much detail and too much to look at, then this crane truck kit is for you! After I get rid of the dang support problem on that diamond plate!!!

I'm not designing models to get rich. I'm designing them because (I've lost my mind) modelers should have high quality options at affordable prices.

Quick update on the 53' trailer kits. They fit comfortably behind VALT's cabs, so they should also fit behind other bra...

Quick update on the 53' trailer kits. They fit comfortably behind VALT's cabs, so they should also fit behind other brands. The kingpin is long to cover multiple brands, but needs to be trimmed down about 50% to mate to our cabs. More detailed and painted pictures will come along soon. The new kits should be available somewhere in the next 2 weeks or so, as long as they pass full build and painting.

Here's a couple pictures of the inspiration for the new trolley crane trucks. Some exceptions had to be made for scale and printing (had to lose a lot of electrical and hydraulic lines, steel cable, drive shafts, etc.). The VALT model has an older 1982 cab, but otherwise, not too bad hitting the majority of important details.

These trucks with the older cab were a frequent sight 30 years ago in my old hometown on the east coast of Florida.

The FEC still runs gravel, sand, and other bulk materials to cement and block making companies along the coast.

I like to use truck/equipment auction websites for inspiration photos because most subjects on those pages have that used and sometimes worn look to them.

The final painted display models will either be yellow like the example here or a very dirty and worn white.

Full view of white primer results on the HO scale crane trucks. Day full of thunderstorms tomorrow might generate some time to get color on these trucks. I'm looking forward to seeing how well the diamond plate on the rear deck and welds on the headache rack show up after painting.
