Even the mechanic's car breaks down. Irony right? Well the 2000 Monte Carlo SS has been broken since June. With the ever so much work that is going on at the shop there is not enough brain power to diagnose, find parts, and think of a day to repair until yesterday. The ignition wire on cylinder five was melted and the ignition control processor was defective on connection to a coil controlling cylinder two and five. It is back to running status.

However, the service car 2010 Toyota Camry will be getting a transmission oil and filter change, brake lines replaced, and a detail. The 2015 John Deere D110 will be getting a camshaft replacement since the compression release spring broke and is not starting.

Yes, August 17th until 23rd will be closed. This is a repair the shop, personal cars, lawn tractor, and grounds week. Not a vacation. Thank you for your patience. There will be updates and maybe pictures of changes through out.

Almost coming up on 4 years at the garage this has been a very exciting time just have to do the other responsibly of other things to make this operation continue on.

First transmission repair on the lift. 2013 Cadillac CTS4 front input shaft seal leak. Transmission is very tight on this car one of the bell housing bolts was covered up heater core pipe. Left catalytic converter had to be removed to get to the starter so that could be removed also. So glad that this was done on the lift then on jackstands. Some broke bolts were found at the transfer case universal joint when the drive shaft was being removed. This will be corrected. Update video will come later.

Something new!!! Well two things in this picture. This 2002 Suburban 1500 getting new front pads and rotors. On the new shop lift!!! Yes this is the 7th vehicle on it. Video on the tell all about the process and shop update will be on tonight.

Back to the Suburban this customer wanted an oil change upon doing the the brakes made a noise stopping at the lift once in the air within a minute keyword minute the front pads squealer tab was touching the rotor. Usually thats a slim time to get them replace customer aproved to get them done.

This new addition to the shop has save valuable time with turn around on service and ease on physical body for the technician. More surprises are on the way!

Closed yesterday to meet a very special Engine. This 1941 made on November American Locomotive Company Challenger Model (otherwise known as Union Pacific Big Boy) Only 25 were built. This was the life bucket list for the owner of repair this page. This a 4-8-8-4 engine wheel lay out having the sets of 8 being the power wheels that propell this 1,189,500 lb giant to speeds up to 80 mph! Four steam pistons in total produce between 6,290-7,000 horse power that is more power han 5 Bugatti Varons put together!
Before getting into cars I have had my love for trains as a child. Early memories of seeing steam giants at Strausburg rail road sparked my interest into machinery. It is a neat thing to see how everything works with many moving parts and sounds that make it seem like a mechanical dinosaur. It was nice to finally see this example in person and having a piece of my grandfather with me at this event and a way to make this visit complete. (Rail road hat) Just once feeling like 5 years old once again.

Other than this being the first personal thing share on the repair page I would like to remind everyone July 4th to the 7th the garage will be close to celebration America's 250th birthday. Thank you for you patience in advance.

Manufactures don't want you changing your fluids even though the manual says its lifetime or there is no measure dip stick for it. For this 2015 Toyota Corolla LE the owner made a great choice to get the second car to have CVT fluid changed. Yes a Constant Variable Transmission is serviceable. The fill plug is in a area that the left front wheel has to be removed as well as the undercover and splash shield. Using a scan tool and a manual hand pump filling then checking the level of fluid is easy. No everybody has a scanner but getting one that reads transmission temperature is what needs to be seen. Specs are available via Haynes or online by a Toyota spec source.

It's always a great idea to change the fluids at a thirty thousand interval amount. Waiting too long to finally just do it for the first time outside of those intervals could I actually harm the internals and the transmission. Fluid breaks down over time add it with the summer heat could calls overheating issues which could overheat internal moving parts that could break right in the middle of a summer trip. Which could hamper your time of enjoyment off of work. For additional services in estimates, please message here to see when to get your car ready for your summer trip.
