Update to Romaine Grants engine situation
We have decided to go half and half on parts costs with the owner and all labor will be covered and warrantied by us
We have both decided to take fault for the 2 exhaust valves bending on the right bank head.
Customer is taking our recommendations upon using all new timing components and a few other minor parts that needed to be upgraded.
After engine completion we will be tuning the car using Uprev software on our dyno.
Sorry for the lack of updates we've been very busy with our current workload but we'll keep everyone in the loop
G37 installed ported manifold, test pipes, we modified the tomei titanium single exhaust to fit, & long ram intakes

Tandem Automotive Performance would like to state a few things as it seems there's a lot of hate going on right now towards the company and our reputation as a company we are leaving this statement due to the destructive capability social media can have on a company in this statement we are leaving our side of the VQ motor build story that has exploded, the reason our reviews have been taken down momentarily, and a few other things that have happened in the shop as of recently
First off the vq35 motor build that was handled by one of our certified technicians. There was a hold up from the machine shop in which we didn't have the ability to finish the motor before the dead line. we want to extend an apology to the owner for that. One of our technicians who was let go due to negligence looked over the motor and said that all the parts were in good working order. However once we had our certified technician work on the motor and go over all of the parts that were given to us to use for the rebuild process he notified the owner that the camshaft gears were damaged, (pictures included of gears in post) and that he should get another set of gears before they did the timing on the motor. Customer stated that they were in a running motor and that they would be more than fine in the motor. With that being said lets jump forward to now where the exhaust gears alignment pin sheared off of the cam leaving metal shavings and chunks of the alignment pin in the alignment hole in the cam shaft. The customer insisted it was our screw up and at first admittedly we thought it was until we had the technician that built the motor tear it down. After the front timing cover was removed from the motor we found the cam gear free spinning on the camshaft. that the already worn out gear sheared the centering pin breaking the gear free from the cam shaft. We have extended an offer that still stands in which we will disassemble the motor replace the vales the timing set and any other faults with the motor if the owner provides the parts necessary to complete the job. As the fault was caused by parts our technician insisted the owner replaced and the owner declined to replace them we assume no fault from that point on if those parts fail that isn’t covered under our warranty.
The reason our reviews have been taken down momentarily. Because of the issues with the VQ35 engine build we have received back lash from several forums and groups on Facebook. We have read countless comments of flooding us with bad reviews from people that have never been to the shop. As a result, this causes defaming to the shop from people that have never been to the shop. We see that as an improper move on the people’s part as it doesn’t allow for legitimate reviews to be seen by customers or future customers. Until the motor build issue is resolved we will not allow the posting of reviews good or bad.
We also have noticed that during the illegal recording of the shop that was posted. People are making statements about the cleanliness of the shop, and the customers cars that are here as other projects. We’d like to come forward and be open with the public on the day that recording was taken of the shop right outside of the motor room I was inventorying everything in there and mopping and getting parts from old builds set aside that the customers didn’t want so they could be sold or disposed of.
For the cars that are here still getting built. A lot of our project car owners work off of a budget just like the rest of us do in this world and they have us slowly but surely build their cars to exactly what they want. Nine times out of ten the customer calls and says hey I’ve got ###X amount what parts do we need to keep moving ill order them and have them shipped to the shop to have you guys put on before the car is done. Our project car owners are all aware of this and are perfectly happy with it because as a result they don’t get hit with a massive bill at the end that they can’t pay but instead they get to make smaller payments over the course of the build. As a result of this the customers are happier and they get to keep their cars and we still get paid. If we did not run projects this way what has happened before would repeat itself and in order to pay our technicians in a timely manner we would have to go through the lien processes assume the title to the car and sell it. That’s happened before we have seen signs that it could happen again and that’s why we have things set up the way we do. We would rather the customers keep their cars then lose them we aren’t in business to take anyone’s cars from them.
Vaydor in for some work
