Have you ever caused minor damage to your bumper and thought, “It doesn’t look that bad; I’ll take care of that later!”?

You may not know that your bumper plays several roles in your vehicle, including safety. Here are a few potential adverse effects of ignoring bumper damage, however minor it may be:

Bumpers are built with materials designed to minimize the impact on the rest of the car. Even minor accidents can cause wheel misalignment and can put stress on other parts. If your bumper has previous damages, it might be compromised and not perform as intended!

Imagine you’re looking to purchase a car, but the bumper has dents, dings, scratches, and other damages. How likely would you be to buy that vehicle or ask for a price reduction? Would you start to wonder what potential issue might be hiding? Overall, a bumper with too many imperfections can signify poor driving, wear and tear on the car, and ultimately reduce value.

Do you love your Subaru? We do too!

As a Subaru-certified collision center, we’re lucky to see various models visit our facility daily. We’ve identified a few simple concerns to look out for.

Air conditioning O-Rings - A/C blowing warm? There's a good chance the O-rings are to blame. Over time, they can get worn down and let the cold air escape. As inconvenient as it may be on a hot day, it’s a minor repair.

Head Gaskets - Engine oil and coolant flow through the head gasket of your Subaru; if the levels of oil and coolant drop, or you get a whiff of those liquids dripping onto the exhaust, there may be a leak. Fluids leaking into the engine and going undetected could cause concerns of rust, corrosion, and failing spark plugs.

Inner joint boots - The inner and outer axle joints have rubber boots full of grease that lubricate the joints as your wheels move. The inner boot is near the exhaust, which makes it more susceptible to wear and tear. If you notice the smell of grease burning, this is due to the heat of the exhaust, and it is your cue to bring your vehicle in to get that boot replaced.

Keeping an eye out for these concerns, coupled with regular maintenance, keeps your Subaru on the road for years to come!

Did you know the road can be more dangerous during certain times of day, week, or year?

There's no question that driving becomes more challenging in the evening and night because of visibility. At night, many drivers have difficulty seeing through the light glare on their windshield. Be sure to remember to turn your headlights on!

Saturday has the most accidents; it makes sense because most people engage in leisure activities.

Research has shown that the summer months see the most accidents. There are a few reasons why: Children are out of school, families tend to travel, and there are generally more vehicles on the roads.

If you’re out and about during any of these times, be sure to be conscious of your surroundings. Besides other cars around you, you should be mindful of pedestrians, bikers, wildlife, and weather conditions as they can cause accidents as well.

Have you ever got back into your car after shopping and noticed damages that weren’t there before? Us too! It’s a circumstance we see all too often; a parking lot can be the perfect place to pick up a dent or scrape, whether it’s the preverbal shopping cart or someone who parks a little too close- here are a few steps to ensure a stress-free and quick repair:
1. Take photos! Capture photos of the damages and surrounding area immediately upon noticing.
2. Assess the situation: Do your best to determine what happened. In most circumstances, businesses are generally not liable for shopping carts or other damages that occur in their parking lot.
3. Address the damages: Don’t wait! Minor damages can quickly snowball into more serious repairs even if it doesn't seem serious.
