⭐️ How to estimate the fuel cost for a trip in semi-truck
Take the current per-gallon price of diesel ($3.31) and divide it by your truck's miles per gallon. So, $3.31 divided by average 6.5 equals 50.92 cents. If you round that number up, you are spending 51 cents on fuel for every mile your truck travels.

But remember, that's on average. It's been reported that some diesel semi trucks achieve 8 mpg or more.

With trailer it can gets in average 5.5 miles on a gallon of diesel fuel.

When working with brokers or carriers, be it DAT Load Board or another load board, we can run into scammers. In order not to become a prey to scammers, before taking the load, you need to check the status of this broker or carrier. You can also find out public information about any company (size of company, commodity information, and safety record, including the safety rating (if any), a roadside out-of-service inspection summary, and crash information).

⭐️ How to do a forced regen on the truck?
In order to force a REGEN you will need to be parked idle, Cruise switch off, brakes set and foot off the brake, throttle and clutch (unless automatic trans). Then go into the after-treatment menu in the dashboard. Go to request parked regen. Then it will try to send the request. The engine must be over 158 degrees coolant temp as well. If the engine starts to idle up then let it do its thing. If it does not then go into the status menu and it will tell you why it did not command it on, in which case the unit will need to be scanned for faults. If the unit does go into 5 mph derate and you need to get to a shop you can unplug the speed sensor on the back of the transmission and drive it. This will save a lot of money on a tow.

A forced regen occurs when soot builds up inside the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to the point that the vehicle is no longer operable. When this happens, a driver has to pull over and initiate a self-cleaning process that can take up to 40 minutes.

⭐️ To qualify for a Ryder lease, your company must:
1. Provide Ryder with you company’s credit history.
2. Provide balance sheets and income statements of company for last 2 years.
3. COI requirements:
• TO BE APPROVED FOR LIABILITY (both requirements must be met):
1. The insured must have an Auto Liability limit of at least $1,000,000. Limits under the Auto Liability are NOT added. Ex. $500,000 under Bodily Injury and $500,000 under Property Damage.
2. Ryder must be named as ADDITIONAL INSURED.

• TO BE APPROVED FOR PHYSICAL DAMAGE (both requirements must be met):
1. COI must include HIRED PHYSICAL DAMAGE LIMITS/DEDUCTIBLES. Limits under $100,000 will require special approval.
2. Ryder must be named as LOSS PAYEE
3. Rental customers need to provide a “blanket” or “any auto” / hired coverage. If coverage is unit specific/scheduled, account will NOT be updated.
4. Certificate Holder CANNOT be blank—it must contain a Ryder Truck Rental Inc with the SSC address.
5. The COI must be signed by insurance company/agent.
6. District and customer number must be placed on the COI, near the name of the insured. Do NOT place this information at the top or bottom of the page as it frequently gets cut off during faxes.
7. COI with handwritten information must come directly from the agent.

⭐️ To qualify for a Penske lease, your company must:
• Be an INC or LLC business
• Be at least 1 year in operation from incorporation Date & 1 year Company Credit History
• Headquarters/Address Business is registered to is a commercial business property – similar to a store front, warehouse and office building (cannot be registered to a residential location like a home address or a PO Box).
• Note: Penske does not currently offer leases to individuals, owner operators, contractors or start-up businesses.

If your company does meet the leasing requirements above. They will need to confirm the following in order to set an appointment with a lease representative for a quote (Penske pricing varies and is also affected by business credit):

Other options if you not qualify for leasing just yet:
1. Penske Rentals 800-736-7531. This allows a shorter term (like weekly/month-to-month). Like lease, rentals include normally scheduled preventive maintenance, as well as repairs, inspections, tire replacement or repairs, and road call assistance. You are responsible for insurance coverage, fuel, driver, and damage beyond normal wear and tear.
2. Penske Used Trucks Sales 866-309-1962 has different units available for purchase, and offer different financing specials for truck purchases.

⭐️ Important DOT Paperwork to Keep in the Truck at all Times (copies):
• Registration Cab Card for Truck.
• Proof of Insurance.
• Annual Vehicle Inspection Report.
• Registration Cab Card for Trailers (If Trailer attached).
• DOT inspection for Trailer (If Trailer attached).
• Lease or Rent Agreement for Trailer (If Trailer attached).
• Copy of IFTA fuel Tax License.
• USR Registration for current year (Not necessary but desirable).
• Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (Not necessary but desirable).

To maintain the professional reputation of your company, you should keep all above documents inside files in one big folder. On the front cover of this folder should be information of company:
• DOT COMPLIANCE
• Company name
• City, State
• USDOT #
• MC #

All documents neatly collected (each document in a separate file), in a clean folder for documents, can also affect the mood of the DOT inspector.
