This is a HUGE win here in Illinois!

Insurance providers should never be the party determining what the loss amount should be, let alone being the “only” party to make that determination.
99% of my hail claims are insurance pay and I constantly fight insurance providers (mainly the big 5 that you all know) about price, procedures, repair operations, etc etc etc.. They constantly argue whether certain processes are needed to repair the vehicles, to which I say, “Oh really? Tell me, how long have you been doing PDR? And how do you fix that with out doing x,y,z?” Their response? “Well then the customer has to pay out of pocket for any additional costs”. Sorry, guy who’s supposed to be a good neighbor…or that cute little gecko…or the one who has me in good hands…those that have seen a thing or two…the mayhem guy… that’s not how insurance works. You’re supposed to have the customer’s back and not give them or the repair facility any grief and make this already bad situation (hail damage from a nasty storm) worse by making the repair process difficult.
You take our premiums every month. You’re constantly raising rates. You have more than enough of our money to pay for repairs. Yet you want to replace a brand new vehicles hood with an aftermarket China made part that costs $200 instead of replacing it with an OEM hood straight from the manufacturer because it costs $900. Or tell me that I don’t need to gut and take the door off the vehicle to repair the hail damage that covers the door top to bottom and side to side. You tell me, “I’m not paying you for that. I’ve seen guys fix that sliding tools down the window, just use longer ones to get to the bottom”. Excuse me, but who’s the 30 year professional master PDR tech here?
Well looks like consumers will have a fighting chance against you come next year. This is about the only thing the governor of this state has done right for the people. We’re tired of the bs
