This smiling gentleman is coffee farmer and entrepreneur Miguel Ángel Herrera from the small community of Cantón Maravillas, Guatemala.

We’re excited to announce the arrival of his Café Maravillas, our second direct purchase from Miguel. Miguel Ángel is a graduate of ASOBAGRI’s Agronomic Engineering program, which we’ve supported through our People Centered Development program since 2017. It is part of Los Jovenes, a group of young farmers bringing innovation and fresh ideas to coffee production in Guatemala.

His light roast coffee is honey-processed, meaning that during drying, some of the coffee’s natural fruit sugars are left on the bean, creating a cup with remarkable sweetness, complexity, and balance. It has notes of honey, blackberry, and milk chocolate.

Dean’s Beans is the only roaster with access to this remarkable coffee.

It was so nice of Meteorologist Brian Lapis from WWLP/News22 to cool it off for us a little here in Western Mass. 98 degrees, several days in a row was too much!

Brian is a longtime Dean's Beans customer and sent us this selfie. We dropped him a subtle hint in the form of some artwork on the packing slip in his latest shipment. Thanks, Brian! Now if you could lower the humidity level a little more that would be perfect! ☀️😎
