With the holiday season, you may be receiving many email attachments. If you don’t know the sender, I don’t think you should open that attach file. This is the season to update your anti-virus protection and practice backup methods. Ransomware travels the Web using stealthy techniques which are about as effective as they are unfair. For example, if you recently downloaded some questionable freeware/shareware bundle from an equally questionable website, the virus might have been attached to it. Ransomware virus; your data may not be recoverable or the recovery process may be very expensive.


Technology companies representing themselves as “Microsoft, Dell and etc..,” have been contacting the general public claiming that there computer have been sending out “errors,” “viruses”, “trouble signals,” “malware,” and possibly other system failures. These fraudulent entities, under the guise of offering technical support service to remediate such problems, attempt to gain access to your computer by directing the User to log into a website or giving the tech person permission to access your computer through a remote desktop session. The fraudulent caller may begin by sharing some basic information, such as your name, email address or phone number, in order to appear as a legitimate representative. As a Technology Person, I would limit to restrict anyone the right to access my computer remotely. Many paid Virus protection program with Internet security should protect your computer against many spyware, malware, adware and viruses.


A trend of the past couple of years has been for scammers to contact computer owners directly via telephone in the United States in an effort to convince them that there is a problem with their PC and they’ll need to pay to have it fixed. In general, these people cannot fix anything, and instead they merely charge exorbitant fees for absolutely nothing. In other words, they scam you


If you receive a call from Microsoft saying, "Your computer is sending out error message and they want to help." That call is a scam so put that call on hold! And, walk away...


Do a full anti-virus scan.
