My Dad and his company Nissan of Elk Grove hosted Cars and Coffee last Sunday, June 14. A lot of GTRs showed up and there was so much participation from all the car guys around! We did raffles, and there were so much vendors. Part 2 is in the works.

Which JDM Legend is Yours?

This is not a car list.

This is a friendship-ending argument.

The Mazda RX-7 FD is the lightweight rotary king. It sounds like a fighter jet and handles corners like it owes them money.

The Acura NSX-R is proof that Honda engineers woke up one day and decided to build a supercar just to show everyone they could.

The Toyota Supra MK4 brought the legendary 2JZ to the party. Thirty years later, people are still trying to find its horsepower limit.

The Nissan GT-R R34 became an icon thanks to Paul Walker and Fast & Furious. Every car kid has dreamed about owning one at least once.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII is basically a rally car disguised as a sedan. Turbo, AWD, and enough grip to make physics nervous.

Honestly, I don’t know how you’re supposed to pick only three.

My heart says:
R34
NSX-R
RX-7

My brain says:
R34
Supra
Evo VIII

So let’s hear it…

Which 3 are you taking?

Today we’re looking at the legendary Mazda RX-7 FD. Twin-turbo rotary power, pop-up headlights, and one of the prettiest car designs ever made.

But let’s be honest… my chances of seeing the Tooth Fairy are probably better than finding an untouched RX-7 FD in 2026.

Every RX-7 I find is either making 700 horsepower, running a turbo the size of a washing machine, missing half the interior, or being sold for enough money to make my dad suddenly interested in budgeting.

This one? Stock. Clean. Unmodified. That’s rarer than me getting an A+ on my math homework without asking for help.

The funny part? Even my dad had an uncontrollable urge to look at this thing and ask my mom, “Do we have room in the garage for one more car?”

Spoiler alert: We do not.

The RX-7 FD wasn’t just a car—it was Mazda’s way of saying, “What if we made a sports car powered by Doritos and dreams?”

And somehow… it became a legend.

Before social media told everyone what car to like, 2 Fast 2 Furious gave us the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.

This thing showed up, made turbo noises, and suddenly every kid on Earth was asking their parents if they could put a giant wing on the family car.

The RB26 engine is basically the reason half the internet thinks every problem can be solved with more boost.

And let’s be honest… if Brian O’Conner pulled into my driveway and offered me the keys, my dad would be loading it into the garage before my mom could say, “absolutely not.”

What’s even crazier? Finding a stock R34 today is basically like finding a unicorn. Most of them have been modified, tuned, raced, or turned into someone’s 1,000-horsepower project. Seeing one this clean and untouched is rarer than me getting the keys to drive it.

Thanks to Paul Walker for showing the world what this car could do. Without him, the R34 might have just been another fast Nissan. Instead, it became a legend. The car community still misses him, and every time an R34 rolls by, a little piece of that legacy lives on.

Rest in peace, Paul

The JDM Grail Your Cousin Swore By - 99 Honda Civic EK9

Everybody says the EK9 Type R is a JDM grail.

Spoon Yellow. VTEC. Lightweight. Legendary. This thing had tuner kids hanging posters on their walls before they even had a driver’s license. Kind of like me.

Let’s be honest, if I owned this EK9 I’d spend more time wiping fingerprints off it than actually driving it. Mostly because I can’t.

But if being cool was measured in horsepower, VTEC noise, and childhood dreams, the EK9 Type R would be undefeated.

Now somebody hide the keys before I start watching too many Initial D episodes.

JDM Week Has Officially Started! 🇯🇵

Hey everyone, Klyde here! This week we’re celebrating one of the coolest parts of car culture: JDM!

JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. These are vehicles and parts that were originally built for the Japanese market. Some of the most legendary cars ever made came from Japan, including the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Honda Civic Type R, Acura NSX, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

Why is JDM so important? Because these cars changed the automotive world. They proved that you don’t need a giant V8 to go fast. JDM cars became famous for their incredible engineering, reliability, tuning potential, and racing success. Many of today’s performance cars were influenced by innovations that came from Japan.

Plus, let’s be honest… without JDM, we wouldn’t have half the posters hanging in car enthusiasts’ garages.

All week long I’ll be featuring some of my favorite JDM legends, rare finds, and dream builds. If you’re a fan of turbo noises, high-revving engines, and cars that make your dad suddenly start measuring garage space, you’re in the right place.

What’s your favorite JDM car of all time? Let me know below!
