First I want to say thank you to everyone of you for the calls, texts and check ins. We are so grateful for the community and amount of support we have been shown!
Sunday Austin crashed his bike going about 30mph and hit a stump. He got cross rutted and tried to save it by grabbing the brake and it sent him over the handle bars and unfortunately into the stump. He was wearing his protective gear which I believe save him from a lot worse.
He walked back towards the camper and couldn't catch his breath. He was making a sound I have never heard before and when I asked where does it hurt he said "Ribs" "Ambulance" I immediately yelled for someone to get the EMS.
We got the transported ambulance and his vitals checked. They called life line just to be cautious of internal bleeding but the drive was going to be quicker to the trauma center in Indy. He has 4 broken ribs on his right side, lacerated his liver and messed up his kidney. He's pretty banged up and will need weeks of recovery time but we are thankful it wasn't worse.
We don't have a for sure update on when we can go home as they are checking his liver to make sure it heals completely and his pain is managed. His kidney has healed and his bloodwork is going in the right direction.
The kids have gotten to video call with us and see him. They sure miss him and we miss them too! Keep sending positive thoughts and prayers on our recovery journey!
