It all begain in the early years of the 20th century when Charles Moore and his wife – the former Sarah Shade – owned farm land along the banks of the Little Mia

I am so excited to find this little piece of my past! My grandmother had cottage #326, the yellow and white one across from the tennis court and the baseball field! In the early 60's, I learned to ride my bike there, swam in the pool, played bingo at the pavilion and attended the weekend dances with the brass trios and quartets. Soda pop in a bottle, bowls of chips and pretzels. Our family would gather out there on weekends in the summer, and spend lazy days by the pool. 4th of July sparklers and fireworks, catching lightning bugs in jars at dusk, playing hide and go seek in the evergreen bushes that went around the flag pole down the middle until they eventually tore the bushes out. That little store closed a few years before my grandmother, Martha Palish Nadaud, (Nona to me and many others) sold the cottage. I had driven through there several years ago, and seeing the big yellow and white cottage brought back so many memories.... truly miss this sweet old community.
