I’m going to be straight up here. Two years later and I still relive that day, every single day. I’m still not the same and at this point, I don’t think I’ll ever be. When I’m alone and my brain has time to wander it always goes to the day of the crash and I mumble out to myself, ‘I’m sorry, Erin’. Whenever I look at my phone and it says 9:09, I mumble out ‘Hi Erin’ as we used to always send each other screenshots of that time with whatever background we had, usually the rally car. I haven’t mentioned any of that to anyone before, but now you all know. It’s a couple weird things that I’ve been doing since that day. The hardest thing for me as always, was not being able to say my final goodbye to her and I’ll have to deal with that for the rest of my life. I guess I just don’t move on as fast as some other people do.

As for the future, progress on the new rally car has been extremely slow. It’s still not even caged. Motivation is low, partially due to my own battles, but also due to the cancellation of the New England Forest Rally. Nothing against that awesome event or anyone involved with it, but the distance I would have to travel for the nearest two events is hard to justify with the increased price of everything, especially gravel tires. Part of the reason for the Cayenne build was that for way less money, I could go off roading in comfort with Sherry, Rusty, and friends for days at our own pace and schedule for a fraction of the cost of one stage rally. I really need a solid push to get this new car built, but without a codriver or crew, it all feels meh.

I’m trying to do my best every day, even though it feels like a losing battle most of the time.

We’re back! After a long search and multiple letdowns, we now have a new car! As these cars age and get consumed by rust in this area, it’s getting increasingly difficult to find a solid chassis to start a build with. But thanks to Casie and Jacob, we were able to score this 1997 Impreza L automatic with only 85,000 miles on it. This virtually rust free car is the perfect car to build to pay tribute to Erin and to carry the number 909 into the future. After the cage gets installed, the color will change back to the previous color, but with a twist!

I’m also really looking forward to bringing that monster engine from NAS Performance to life!!

Great day with great people! It was so good to see everyone today as a group of us took a trip to South Arm for Erin before having a meal at Sunday River Brewery. I think we all needed it, especially all together. I know I did❤️

One year.

I don’t really know where to start. My mind has been all over the place the last couple weeks. I’ve been having trouble controlling my emotions, especially this past week. I can switch from fine to crying in a matter of minutes, especially right now as I type this. It’s been one hell of a year for me and now the first anniversaries of all the bad times are rolling in.

Erin, I will never forget the 8 years of flying down forest roads. I will never forget the countless podium finishes, champagne sprays, and our intercom s**t talking sessions in between stages. I will never forget our start to rally, being broke as f**k. We literally had to borrow everything from everyone, I didn’t have a truck or trailer, we could only afford used tires and $150 craigslist stock suspension for four years and then hope we had enough money for fuel to drive home at the end of it all. I couldn’t think of a better person/friend/codriver to experience all those things with.

I still don’t have a new rally car at my house but I do have one lined up. It’s time for me to get that car home and build the tribute car I promised her. I never got the chance to say my final goodbye and that will hurt me everyday for the rest of my life. Building this car is the next best thing I can do.

As someone who lost a lot in 2023, cherish those friendships, especially motorsport friendships. What we do is fun but also dangerous where things can go wrong in an instant. We all have seen multiple big crashes since NEFR, lost two drivers (knowing I’m the only driver in the rally crashes that’s still here freaks me out) and as of now there’s two great people that I know recovering from a hillclimb crash. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Love you all.

Today is 9/09, this is a day I’ve been waiting for to do something special for Erin. I took a ride to South Arm Road with Sherry and Rusty to visit the site and pay respects. It was nice to see some of the things people have left there in her memory. I brought some rakes from home to clean up the area and sprinkled a bunch of wild flower seeds (native to Maine) on both sides of the road. My hopes for next year are to see some beautiful colors on that section of road for next years rally. We all know how much she liked being in her garden.

While we were in the area we did some sight seeing, checked out Screw Auger Falls, and got a pie and cookies from Puzzle Mountain Bakery. It was a great day to pay my respects and to see that certain corner with a clear head. I definitely needed it.

Anyway, here’s a video I put together last week to post today. It played in my head all week and I even considered not posting it, but here it is. I’m feeling better.

Hey everyone!

Its been quiet here as life throws out curveballs but we’re back and prepping for next months home event, New England Forest Rally! The car will stay the same as we focus on 2024 season upgrades and boy do we have some goodies coming. With this being the only event planned for this year, the pressure is off and the goal is to have fun and finish as we are probably a bit rusty. While we’re here I’d like to shoutout and thank Antigravity Batteries for having terrific customer support and standing behind their product. I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a lightweight or heavy duty battery.
