Motorcyclepedia Museum's Motorcycle of the week: 1964 Harley-Davidson FL “JFK” Dallas. Was in the motorcade on that fateful day in Dallas when President John F Kennedy was assassinated then later used the JFK movie.
On November 22, 1963, when this motorcycle was only one month old, it was the 13th bike in the procession es**rting President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. During that es**rt, President Kennedy was assassinated. There were 13 motorcycles in total es**rting the president; the other 12 reside in various museums and private collections across the country.
This history was verified by Bill Miller, an assassination investigator, as well as the Warren Commission. The commission was established by President Lyndon B. Johnson, headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren, and included then Congressman and future President Gerald Ford. Mr. Miller indicated that the officer riding this bike was the first to receive the call about a sniper shooting.
This 1964 FL was also used in Oliver Stone's 1991 film JFK, starring Kevin Costner. The motorcycle was repainted for the movie, and before filming began, the prop crew contacted V-Twin Manufacturing Tedd Cycle in Newburgh, NY, to source an authentic, pointed windshield.
Come see it in person at Motorcyclepedia Museum & explore over 750 motorcycles and countless pieces of memorabilia! 250 Lake Street, Newburgh, New York. Open Thursdays 4pm-8pm. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 10am-4pm
