I’m posting this as a major warning to my fellow mobile mechanics and local business owners in the area. If you get a call from Tyrell Fowler or Carolyn Fernandez, do yourself a favor and decline the job. You will thank me in the long run. Trust me.
Recently, I went out to work on their car and got completely taken advantage of. I sat there and waited for over an hour for them to tell me they didn't even have the parts after claiming they did. I did a bunch of diagnostics cause I had nothing else to do than to wait for being taken advantage of only to be greeted by Tyrell, who was completely intoxicated, hovering over my shoulder, and talking random nonsense. Bragging, to me about how much coke does and how much pills he handles, and all this other crap
Against my better judgment, I tried to be a good person. I gave them my commercial store discount, saving them over $220 out of my own pocket on parts. My labor prices are already incredibly cheap. Yet, Tyrell kept aggressively demanding I lower my labor rates, huffing and puffing until I lowered them just to keep the peace and get out of there.
I did a lower control arm, a sway bar link, all 4 spark plugs, and both front rotors and pads. And the electric nightmare they only paid me $148—and then sat there arguing in front of me about how paying me the final $252 we agreed on but I over heard them complaining going to take away from their "drug fund."
To make matters worse, Tyrell drank a bottle of tequila, drove off erratically with Carolyn, and then called me claiming I "messed up the brakes." I drove back out out of concern for safety, only to find out his floor mat was crammed behind the brake pedal, blocking it from decompressing. Furthermore, resulting in him trying to be a tough guy. Taunting me throughout the night, I would post a video footage and audio footage from my dash cam, but we'll just save that for law enforcement.
It is mind blowing that people think they can treat hardworking tradespeople this way. He claims to be a Pharmacist at Target (wild for someone handling public safety to act like this) and she works at Taco Bell. They claim they "can't pay their bill," yet they can afford drugs, liquor, and driving away in a freshly repaired car.
Moving forward, my policies are changing immediately:
🚫 Prices are firm before I turn a single wrench.
🚫 Payment is due upfront or BEFORE keys are handed back.
🚫 If the environment is unsafe or intoxicated, I am packing my tools and leaving.
