2024 Volvo C40 Recharge Single Motor

It’s great to see Volvo return to its roots of offering rear-wheel-drive vehicles once more, as the configuration makes for far more enjoyable motoring than most any front-wheel drive vehicle can impart. But even if such differences don’t mean much to you, one thing will: the Single Motor model offers the larger battery pack and delivers a greater driving range, advantages over the Twin Motor model. So, in this case, two may not be better than one.

The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 Shikkoku Japan-Only Edition

Chopard is out to conquer the Land of the Rising Sun with an exclusive 100-piece edition of its Alpine Eagle watch. By far the darkest iteration of the brand’s luxury sports watch, the dial is inspired by a jet-black tone known in Japan as shikkoku. This intense black colour is obtained from the millenary Japanese lacquerware technique known as urushi. Promoted by Chopard’s ambassador, the Japanese rugby player Keita Inagaki, the Alpine Eagle 41 Shikkoku Japan-Only breaks rank and eliminates the date indication to preserve the brooding monochromatic mood of the dial.

A New Take On The Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton

The Rado Captain Cook collection is a skilful blend of retro vibes and high-tech materials. Ok, it’s also available in more conventional stainless steel or bronze but the high-tech ceramic models will always be a bit extra special. It displays Rado’s industry-leading know-how of the material and the brand’s ability to apply it to any style of watch. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen many interesting and cool combinations of colour and even skeleton models. Continuing from last year’s Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton Limited Edition, Rado adds a new non-limited ‘gunmetal’ grey and gold-coloured model to the collection.

Business News: Davide Cerrato Appointed CEO of Bremont

An English brand best known for its aviator watches, Bremont has just announced Davide Cerrato will take the helm as chief executive officer. An industry veteran with a background in design, Mr Cerrato will also join Bremont’s board. His career include stints at Panerai and Montblanc (and more recently, a brief tenure at HYT), as well as Tudor, where he played a key role in the brand’s stylistic reboot.

Founded by brothers Nick and Giles English in 2002, Bremont has been run by the siblings since its founding. The appointment of Mr Cerrato is the latest development in the evolution two decade-old brand, which recently raised money from investors including hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, valuing the firm at over £100 million.

And just last year, Bremont inaugurated a 35,000 ft² facility in Henley-on-Thames, an hour’s drive west of London, known as The Wing after its swooping form. Taken together, these developments clearly reflect the brand’s ambitions to be a global name in premium sports watches.

Elon Musk Wants The Cybertruck To Outsell The Silverado

Yesterday, Tesla held the 2023 installment of its annual shareholders meeting. In it, Elon Musk said a lot of wild things, but nestled among them was one true gem: He wants the Cybertruck to outsell not just other electric pickups, but gas-burning trucks as well. When asked by an investor about the scale of full-tilt Cybertruck production, Must initially floated the idea of 250,000 trucks per year as a “reasonable guess.” He then went on to say “It might be 500,000, I dunno.”

2024 BMW i5 Sedan Leaks In Seemingly Official Image

As is almost always the case, an official image of a future BMW product has surfaced on social media days before the actual debut. In this latest leak, we’re dealing with the next-generation 5 Series Sedan (G60), specifically the fully electric i5. It doesn’t matter a great deal whether the photo depicts a combustion-engined version or the EV since they’ll look nearly identical, mirroring the relationship between the 7 Series and i7.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek

The Crosstrek name has been used abroad for previous iterations of our XV for years, but now Subaru has decided to unify the naming of its smallest crossover across the world.

10 years have passed since the original Impreza-based XV first launched in Australia, and over 100,000 have been sold Down Under in that time – Subaru expects the Crosstrek to pick up where the XV left off in terms of popularity, too.

The new name brings with it a heavily revised take on a tried and tested formula, with a new design inspired by the 2019 VIZIV Adrenaline concept and an overhauled interior to match the latest models in Subaru’s range.

2024 Nissan GT-R pricing starts at $122,885

The 2024 GT-R gets redesigned front and rear fascias and new rear wing designs to increase downforce and reduce drag. At the front the V motion grille has been replaced with a bigger grille and the front bumper has also been redesigned with new hexagonal lights.

At the rear the GT-R Nismo gets a new rear wing with swan neck-style supports. The rear wing has an almost 10% larger surface area to optimize drag and downforce. The GT-R Nismo’s front lip, rear diffuser and canards have also been revised.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium

Roger Dubuis’ Excalibur line takes inspiration from the Arthurian legend and, since 2005, has been a flagship collection for the Geneva-based brand. Appearing with a recreation of King Arthur’s Round Table, complete with miniature sculpted knights, the Excalibur has always felt comfortable about stripping off and showing off its avant-garde skeletonised mechanics. The latest Excalibur Monobalancier, fitted in full titanium armour, delivers a powerful visual punch yet remains physically light on the wrist. The dramatic skeletonisation of the improved in-house automatic movement, with its star-shaped bridge and endless vistas, is signature Roger Dubuis and bears the Poinçon de Genève hallmark.

The 2023 Bulgari Aluminium Collection, With New Chronos and Capri Editions

The original Bulgari Aluminium watch was released in 1998 and caused quite a sensation. A hit-watch back in the days, it was cool, different and slightly provocative. A cult model for the brand that even made it on the side of an Alitalia Boeing 747. In 2020, Italian brand Bulgari relaunched this emblematic watch in a design that remained faithful to the original one, but with major technical improvements. Since then, the collection has expanded with a GMT model and various limited/special editions. For 2023, Bulgari adds some new, summery editions – so-called Capri, and it’s easy to understand why – as well as a pair of updated chronographs and a lefty edition to be worn for tennis games.

The Robust Ollech & Wajs OW 8001

Partners Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs started their adventure in watchmaking, distributing Omegas and Breitlings from their watch shop in Zurich. In 1956 they decided to create their own brand specialising in robust tool watches, much appreciated by soldiers, divers and pilots. One of the few companies to ride out the quartz storm by reducing production, after Ollech died in 1992, Wajs renamed the brand OW and eventually sold it in 2017. Faithful to the original portfolio of no-nonsense tool watches powered by reliable third-party Swiss movements, OW has streamlined production by creating a one-size-fits-all 300m water-resistant case. With its well-stocked archive of historical models, OW takes inspiration for its latest three-hand-and-date OW 8001 from a 1973 chronograph with a groovy brown fumé dial.
