Prior to designing and manufacturing our first glove, we engaged firefighters in conversation regarding their needs in firefighting gloves. At TechTrade we understand that perhaps the greatest threat to hand safety on the fireground is when a firefighter's gloves are removed during operations. To quote a NIOSH LODD report from June 2007: "Thus, the need to drill/practice operating radios with gloves on so they don't have to be removed during fire operations is critical. In this incident, a team member of E9 indicated that when the IC changed the fireground channel he was unable to set his radio on the proper channel. He indicated this is a common occurrence due to not hearing the command or not being able to properly select the channel with bulky gloves and poor visibility." Our mission for the Pro-Tech 8 gloves is to provide unsurpassed dexterity, comfort, fit and grip without sacrificing world class thermal and other protective properties. By providing this level of performance we believe a firefighter is more likely to keep his or her gloves on during fireground operations which are the ultimate enhancement to safety. Whether operating radios, rope rescue systems or during other fireground operations the versatile Pro-Tech 8 gloves maximizes "gloves-on" capability which in turn maximizes user protection and safety. As an elite FDNY Capt. with 23 years of experience comments about his Pro-Tech 8 gloves: "I can do rope work, connect air hoses, Hurst tool fittings, even rigging. Your glove is still my favorite glove and I continue to show around the State though I see them everywhere so they sell themselves. They are the best fire glove I have used in my 20 plus years in the fire service." from Ohio writes: "Additionally during several training scenarios conducted on duty I instructed firefighters that were wearing the department issued gloves to open their personal self-rescue rope bag and secure it to a stationary device to simulate an emergency escape. I then requested the firefighters to repeat the scenario wearing my Pro-Tech 8 gloves. During these training scenarios two or three firefighters were unable to complete the task using the department issued gloves however could complete the scenario using the TechTrade gloves. And all of the firefighters were able to deploy their personal self-rescue rope bag in less time while using the TechTrade gloves." Manufactured in an ISO 9001:2008 compliant factory, the Pro-Tech 8 gloves are specifically designed and constructed for hand protection during structural firefighting activities. The component materials will withstand the effects of flame, heat, vapor, hazardous liquids, sharp objects and other hazards that are encountered during structural firefighting operations
Our family of gloves will continue to expand as we add features that the firefighting community is demanding.
