Well so much for not touching the engine.I have rebuilt the orginal carburator with a N.O.S. float and a complete kit. I prefer all original parts, so off came the aftermarket test carb... Started engine and set carburator's air and idle screws... Went to put it in gear..I found I have no clutch. Went overboard,( nothing new, lol ) and purchased N.O.S. clutch cable, clutch inner basket, pressure plate, thrust washer, etc. A Barnett Kevlar kit w\springs... Found and purchased a gas tank, one of the last things I have needed.. Only to fine a better one afterwards... I really want to finish this bike project..

Bought this 2002 BMW R1150RT around Thanksgiving.. Seemed very clean.. 103,000 miles on it.. Came with lots of extra parts and goodies.. Rode it without checking it over because of how the bike's service, etc had been presented to me. First night of riding on mountain roads the rear wheel's lugs came loose to the point the bike could not be ridden..
So I did as I do.. Time to take the bike apart.. 1 to clean and inspect.. 2 to upgrade, modify, and service it.. It recieved new rear cast wheel, new Metzlers, new EBC drilled disc rotors, brake pads. Replaced rear caliper, bracket was bent.. Rebuilt front calipers, ( BMW piston/seal kits ). Galfer steel braided brake hoses, alternator belt, spark plugs, K/N air filter, all fluids changed, valve adjustment.. etc. Then it got trailered to BMW of S.F. to have the ABS system flushed and entire brake system bled.. Replaced fuel hose guick disconnect fittings, ( had a slight weep ).. Repaired and painted valve covers. Painted foot peg plates, shortened rear fender, modified lic plate mounting etc.etc.. It's the first BMW motorcycle, first touring bike..
Does this mean I'm getting old ? lol

Almost there.. Looks aggressive with carbs and scoop on it.. After checking, and adjusting push rod.. Got the contact pattern just where on want it on the valve tip.. Comp. Cams push rods on there way. Once valves are adjusted the distributor and wires are the last to do.. I have 60 pds of oil pressure.. (Larry Clarkson's modified distributor).. Many thanks.. Love the look of the 'Moon' oil pressure gauge..

The building of this small block blown Chevy engine has had crankshaft issues. Checked end play.. .020 ..WTF. Crankshaft was giving to a machine shop to be checked, turned down to .020 on main and rod journals.. Was giving a .010 thicker thrust bearing.. Leaving me still wirh .010 + end play telling me I was splitting hairs.. Again I say WTF.. Then told he was going to get a thrust bearing .030 wider then, cut it down carefully.. Beyond myself. Eagle 4340 steel crankshaft ordered... Std. Bearing too.. What a disappointing experience.. Shameful
Removed crankshaft, bearing. Cleaned block.Re-prepped for assembling. Painted with Ceramic Low Gloss Black

Started the slow process of stripping the paint removal.. By chemical and light sanding.. It's the old school way of doing it but I firmly believe that when it's done this way you really get the best results and best knowledge of the project..
