We hope you've enjoyed the week leading up to Veterans Day of SP+'s Military SPotlights! It's time to meet one of our SP+ SPouse SPotlight.
Nicole’s spouse is David Hankins, Retired Senior Chief (OSCS (SW/AW).

Nicole says, "The most rewarding part of my spouse serving is the pride I feel for the meaningful work he has committed for our country.

I would offer another military spouse advice to enjoy every precious moment together. Have Strength, Patience, Stamina, and Independence. Keep living your life, and focus on your family and career. Hang on for a crazy ride. Make the most out of all your experiences. Only a military spouse will understand what it is like to buy houses, raise children and hold things together while not knowing where your spouse is and if they are safe, sometimes months and years at a time. Use this to build strength and find a passion because there are endless possibilities.

I have been truly blessed to find SP+, and that passion turned into a successful career.

Meet Diego, who says, "I was motivated to join the military as a senior in high school during 9/11, which hugely impacted my life. Several friends and I wanted to serve our country, so we enlisted and left for boot camp after graduation. I chose the Army because of its rich history of Military Heroes and offered many incredible opportunities for my future.

I was deployed to Iraq, Kuwait and Korea during my service. My favorite Country was Korea, as I loved the culture, people and food! I have held a few different Military Occupations as a Logistics Officer, Finance Officer and Patriot Missile Operator. So grateful to be supported by my wife, Angela, and our two kids, Sterling and Skylar.

My service experience allowed me to relate and communicate with people from all different backgrounds, and I’ve taken those skills into my work with SP+. I also have been able to draw on my leadership experience to lead and motivate my team."

SP+ Military Spotlight

Meet Rich, who says, " I joined the military because college wasn’t for me then. However, after my service, I did go to college. I chose the USMC because I wanted to challenge myself. During my service, I visited Cuba, Spain, France, Italy, Israel, Turkey, and Morocco. Cuba was the most interesting and unique place. Half my family is from Northern Spain and still lives there, so I often visit and love it there.

The most rewarding experience about my service is the brothers I’ve served alongside. I remain in touch and see many of them to this day.

I use a lot of USMC Disciplines in my current role at SP+. Training, discipline, honor, redundancy, more training, attracting the best, molding staff, and leadership by example. We heard this in the USMC, Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome. It takes planning and patience, and this has been the most challenging and rewarding part of being with SP+ and utilizing all those skill sets. This is the first time I have been with any other company that has backed me and given me the support that the following individuals have, Rick Kreiter, Dan Murray, and Steve Witte. I would follow them anywhere, along with outstanding corporate support and individuals."

Meet Tabain, who says, "When I was younger, I loved aerospace engineering and knew that the Air Force was home for me. I told my parents I would join the Airforce when I finished college, and I did! I was a Staff Sgt. and was able to travel in my service and must say Germany is my favorite place because I love German cars, and second would be South Korea.

The most rewarding part of my service experience was being disciplined and held accountable. I was also gaining experience in the Aerospace Field.

In my role at SP+, I use the Air Force Core Values daily with my team: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do! Since I joined SP+, all but great things have come my way, and I must mention Ryan Driscoll. He is the person that introduced me to this fantastic group of people at SP+."

SP+ MILITARY SPotlight

Rob says, “I joined the Army on a whim when I was 17. I chose the Army because my best friend in high school was always interested in the Army. I went to the recruiter with him and decided to give it a try. Good thing it worked out! I visited many, many other countries throughout my service. The majority of my service was spent overseas. My favorite place is Europe, in general. I spent over 12 years there, and I miss it greatly.

The most rewarding experience about my service is, far and away, the people I worked with and the Soldiers I had the privilege of leading. I made lifelong friends, and we still keep in touch almost daily.

My current role at SP+ gives me a broad reach to tell the Veteran story to employees throughout the company. Hire a Veteran or Military Spouse and watch them do great things! I aim to show them the immense value Veterans bring to our organization to bring even more Veterans and Military Spouses to work at SP+.”
