🦜 Introducing Brazilian Atlantic Forest: Vol. 1⁠

Sister to the Amazon, this ecoregion sounds like nowhere else on Earth. Dan D’Errico, recordist and Pro Sound Effects library development manager, spent time in the field to capture it: rainforest canopies alive with birdsong, quiet nights thick with crickets, rare species up close, all in high-res detail.⁠
⁠
It’s also one of the most threatened rainforests on the planet, which makes every recording here a little more rare.⁠

Introducing: Immersive France 🇫🇷⁠

Right now, the sound of France is Les Bleus’ chants, whistle blows, and stadium roars, but that’s only one slice of a country’s sonic identity.⁠

Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway toured the country in high-resolution Ambisonic spatial audio, capturing Paris streets, Carcassonne’s medieval fortress walls, wind off the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean working the coast.⁠

This week’s featured Sound Artists: Ann Kroeber & Alan Splet, the team behind some of the most iconic sound design in cinema history 🎞️⁠
⁠
Together, they shaped the sonic worlds of The Black Stallion, Blue Velvet, Dune (1984), and Dead Poets Society, using contact microphones, field recordings, and an approach to sound that was as much about feeling as technique.⁠
⁠
Alan passed away in 1994, and Ann in 2024. Before she did, she spent decades preserving the library they built together, and trusted us to help bring it to the world as the Sound Mountain Collection.⁠
⁠

Their recordings have found their way into film, games, and creature design across generations of projects. We’re honored to carry that forward.⁠
