Just wanted to put a little PSA out there for anyone that has fuel pumps fail.

You MUST replace all filters and drain AND thoroughly clean the fuel tank. Otherwise, your brand new pumps will only last a few months, and possibly cause other parts failures. The carbon from the brushes that gets into the fuel will act as a grinding medium and destroy the brushes in the new pumps and clog the fuel filter. The clogged filter puts additional stress on the pumps, contributing to premature failure and causing the fuel pump controller to fail as well. In the pics, you can see the condition of the brushes in a pump that is ONLY 4 months old, and was installed to replace a previously failed pump. The black fluid in the glass jar is gasoline with the clogged filter in it after being put in a sonic cleaner for less than 15 seconds. The last pic is the FC2 that burned up due to the pumps having to work significantly harder just to pump fuel through the fuel filter. All of these can lead to just an annoying wait for a tow on the side of the road due to no fuel to possibly blowing the engine up. Make sure you don't just swap fuel pumps and call it good.
