I visited Gerald Nissan of Naperville past Saturday. I told them I had a tire leaking air and I wanted it replaced. The quoted me at $210.00 + labor. Great, I thought. I receive no phone calls on updates and I made sure that they had my current phone number twice before leaving them with the car. I call today and they tell me the car is ready and that it was a simple valve stem issue that only cost me $9. Ecstatic I head to the dealership to pick up my car. I pay and leave the dealer. Moments after leaving the tire pressure light pops on and I think to myself “They probably forgot to reset the computer. It’s fine. I trust them implicitly.” I head to the expressway and I’m driving on route 88 towards the city in the third left lane going 65 mph. The car starts shaking violently and I slam on my breaks. Thankfully the Mustang behind me was paying attention and slowed down and helped guide me over the side of the road. After calming down from a panic attack I call the dealer upset and explain why. They tell me that someone will be there shortly to get me and the car. 30 minutes pass and finally, a dealership minivan pulls up. The mechanic hops out and puts my spare on. Then tells me it’s okay to drive on a spare on the expressway and to head back to the dealer. I tell him that I just had a panic attack and me driving back doesn’t feel safe. He tells me that’s the only option. I get back in the car and take a few deep breaths and drive the car on the side streets avoiding the highway. About 10 minutes from the dealer the car shakes again and I pull over because I experience another panic attack. I get to the dealer and I meet with the service manager Dan. He tells me that it’s their fault and that he’ll replace one tire. I tell them it’s unacceptable and I ask for a ride home. I have to argue to get a ride home because I didn’t feel safe driving after two panic attacks and in rush hour. I tell them that I almost died and he brushes it off. I ask him if he’s the one who apologizes to my family if I died? He says no. I finally convince them to get a ride back home and I’m starting to relax. This is gross negligence on their part and they obviously don’t care about it nor their consumers. I’m shocked that Nissan lets these practices go on in their dealers. I was actually going to buy two Subaru's from this dealer group next year. I recommend that Subaru of America, Inc., Hyundai, Genesis USA, Kia Motors America, and Ford Motor Company look into the practices that this auto group does in their name. But after seeing their quality I’ll avoid anything that has this dealership attached. Oh, they never cared to make sure that I got home safely or any sort of follow up. They say that "Gerald Cares." They don't. I don't feel safe in my Nissan anymore. #nissandealerproblems #nissanisntsafe
