Drug and Alcohol Policy

Applies To: All employees and contractors operating vehicles or working on company premises
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure a safe, healthy, and productive work environment by prohibiting the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, and controlled substances by employees engaged in driving or support roles related to Facebook operations.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all drivers, dispatchers, supervisors, and any employee whose duties involve operating, maintaining, or overseeing vehicles used for Facebook-related services. It includes full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract workers.
3. Prohibited Conduct
• Use, possession, sale, distribution, or manufacture of illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia while on duty or on company/Facebook premises.
• Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while performing job duties, especially while operating any vehicle.
• Use of prescription drugs without a valid prescription or in a manner inconsistent with the prescription.
• Refusal to submit to required drug or alcohol testing.
• Tampering with or attempting to alter test samples.
4. Drug and Alcohol Testing
Employees may be subject to the following types of drug and alcohol testing:
• Pre-employment Testing: All candidates must pass a drug test before hire.
• Random Testing: Periodic unannounced testing in accordance with DOT and company policy.
• Post-Accident Testing: Mandatory testing after any vehicle accident or incident involving property damage or injury.
• Reasonable Suspicion Testing: Conducted when there is evidence suggesting impairment.
• Return-to-Duty and Follow-Up Testing: Required after a violation before resuming safety-sensitive functions.
5. Legal Compliance
This policy is designed to comply with:
• U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (49 CFR Part 40 and Part 382)
• California state drug testing laws (if applicable)
• Facebook’s safety and contractor compliance standards
6. Medical and Recreational Ma*****na
Despite state laws permitting ma*****na use, any detectable level of THC in drug testing may be considered a violation of this policy, due to safety concerns and federal transportation regulations.
7. Consequences of Policy Violations
Violations of this policy may result in:
• Immediate removal from duty
• Disciplinary action up to and including termination
• Mandatory participation in a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program (if eligible)
• Notification to regulatory agencies if required
8. Employee Assistance
Coach Transportation LLC encourages employees with substance use issues to seek help. Confidential referrals may be provided to Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) or local treatment providers.
9. Acknowledgment
All employees must sign an acknowledgment form confirming that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Drug and Alcohol Policy.
