A folded dollar bill, a favorite song, and years of meaningful memories helped shape Andrew and Maria’s one-of-a-kind love story. 💵

After Maria correctly guessed “Money Trees” during Andrew’s playlist challenge, he folded a dollar bill into the shape of a tree and asked her to be his girlfriend. On later anniversaries, he continued the tradition by adding a new word to separate bills until the message was complete in Lake Como: “Will you marry me?” 💍

Their engagement ring carries the symbolism even further with Proverbs 3:18 engraved inside, honoring the tree imagery that has followed their relationship from its earliest days. As they begin planning their wedding, their Woodforest roots remain an important part of the life they are building together. 🌳

The flag flew again, thanks to neighbors who refused to let one unfortunate moment define their community. 🇺🇸

After the flag at Christine Allen Park was stolen, Woodforest residents quickly stepped forward with replacement flags, donations, volunteer support, food, drinks, and supplies. Neighbors even organized overnight watch shifts through “Old Glory’s Night Watch.” 🤝

“I absolutely love my neighborhood!” shared resident Shamara Carroll. This powerful response is a reminder that Woodforest is more than a neighborhood. It is a community where people show up for one another. ❤️

There are dogs who live in a house, and then there are dogs who make a house a home. For the Kelly family, Beau is definitely the second kind. 🏡

This four year old black Lab was chosen with duck hunting in mind, and his one syllable name was picked to carry clearly across the water. True to his breeding, Beau loves swimming and retrieving, but he is just as happy greeting guests with a toy or claiming the nearest couch for a nap. 🐾

From Home Depot errands and soccer practices to Woodforest running trails with his family, Beau brings plenty of personality wherever he goes. His joyful energy and loyal nature make him an unforgettable neighborhood pup. 🎾

Some love stories are rooted exactly where they are meant to grow. 🌿

Maria Griglione and Andrew Kennemer first became close during their senior year at Lake Creek High School, where they made morning announcements together and served as Senior Class Vice President and President. Years later, Andrew proposed beside the breathtaking waters of Lake Como, Italy. 💍

Woodforest has remained an important part of their story. Andrew’s family was among the first 100 families to move into the community, while Maria has called Woodforest home since 2015. 🏡

Today, they treasure living just minutes from each other’s families and spending time together on the neighborhood trails. 💖

A strong lending experience starts with someone who understands both the numbers and the people behind them. For Tyler McCaffety of K&G Capital Mortgage, that balance has shaped a career built around trust, experience, and personal service. 🏡

After beginning his career as an underwriter, Tyler moved into mortgage lending and has since closed more than 2,000 loans. His background helps him identify potential issues early and guide clients through financing options with greater confidence. 💼

Outside of work, Tyler and his wife, Lindsey, are raising three children and stay connected through family, church, and community life. That local connection is part of what makes his approach so personal and family-focused. ❤️

One missing flag sparked an unforgettable display of Woodforest pride. 🇺🇸

When the American flag over the bridge at Christine Allen Park was stolen, residents and local businesses rallied together. Two replacement flags were secured, neighbors gathered to raise a new one, and volunteers signed up for overnight shifts to keep watch. 🌟

Donations exceeded the cost of the replacement flags, and organizers proposed directing the remaining funds to a local veterans organization. What began as a disappointing incident became a story of generosity, unity, and neighbors choosing to stand together. ❤️

“Proud to live in Woodforest with amazing neighbors,” shared Maura Glover Whiteley. That spirit is what makes this community feel like home. 🏡

Looking for a cozy local spot to settle in with a drink, a bite, and a little time to unwind? ☕️

For Rylee’s first coffee shop review, she visited Panicafe in Pine Market, a welcoming space that opened in spring 2025. Her order included an iced chai tea latte with mild notes of cinnamon and a ham and cheese croissant that was “buttered to perfection.” 🥐

With traditional tables, barstools, comfy chairs, and couches, Panicafe offers plenty of space for studying, working, catching up with friends, or spending time with family. Rylee summed up her visit perfectly: “This may have been my first time visiting Panicafe, but it won’t be my last.” ✨

Add this cozy Pine Market stop to your local favorites and catch the full Rylee’s Reviews feature in the September issue of Stroll Woodforest. 📰

Meet Beau, the black Labrador who makes the Kelly family smile. 🐾

Four-year-old Beau is an extraordinary swimmer and natural retriever who loves tennis balls, ducks, bumpers, running with his dad, and time with his best friend, Shep. He has even mastered fitting three tennis balls in his mouth at once. 🎾

The Kelly family has called Woodforest home for 11 years and loves the friendly neighbors, summer swim team, neighborhood activities, and running trails. Beau fits right into that active community life, usually with a toy close by. 🐶
