GRAVESIDE SERVICE HELD FOR MANNING: Graveside Services for Marl W. "Woody" Manning were held July 14, 2026, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Hwy 80 E, Monroe, La.
Marl Wood Manning Sr., known as Woody, passed away on July 9, 2026, in Monroe, Louisiana, at the age of 86. Woody was born on April 1, 1940, in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
For more than 50 years, Woody worked as a mechanic, and he earned a reputation for being able to fix just about anything with an engine. His skill was matched by a work ethic that never wavered. He took pride in doing a job well, and he approached every task with patience, determination, and care. His knowledge, experience, and practical wisdom made him someone others depended on, and his talents served many people throughout the years.
Woody was also well known for his Phillips 66 station in Lakeshore, where he created more than a place of business. It became a gathering spot where people came to drink coffee, share stories, and enjoy good company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marl and Werdna Manning, and by his beloved daughter, Janet Manning Ritchie.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Jones Manning; children, Woody Manning Jr. and his wife Janet and Melinda Walker. Grandchildren Whitney and Philip Carpenter, Bridget Taylor, Ross Ritchie and Clinton Walker. Great grandson Clay David Carpenter and mother to his children, Georgia Manning Lewis; step-children, Michael Jones, Julie Grenella, James Jones, Jeremy Jones; and step-grandchildren.
