😂🔧 FRIDAY FUN | SHOP CONFESSIONS

If you’ve ever worked in the automotive industry, you know we’ve heard just about everything! 😂👀

Today we’re having a little fun with some of the classic excuses people give for putting off vehicle repairs.

🔧 “It’s been making that noise for six months, but it still drives fine!”

😂 “I just turn the radio up so I can’t hear it anymore.”

👀 “I was going to fix it, but then the noise went away… so I figured it fixed itself!”

🤣 “It’s only leaking a little bit. I just keep topping it off!”

We’ve all been guilty of putting something off at one point or another. Life gets busy, and sometimes that repair just doesn’t make it to the top of the list!

But we have to admit, some of these explanations are pretty entertaining. 😂

👇 NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!

What’s the funniest excuse you’ve ever heard for putting off a repair?

Or better yet… what’s something you’ve been putting off fixing on YOUR vehicle? 👀😂

No judgment here! Just a little Friday fun.

Happy Friday from Anderson Automotive & Customs Inc.! 🔧🇺🇸

🔧 WRENCH WEDNESDAY | ALRIGHT, LET’S HEAR IT…

Everybody has that one thing on their vehicle they’ve been meaning to take care of.

Maybe it’s something that’s been annoying you for months.
Maybe it’s an upgrade you’ve been putting off.
Or maybe you already know exactly what you’d do if you had the chance today.

So here’s today’s question:

If you could knock ONE thing off your vehicle’s list right now — what would it be? 👀

A/C finally blowing ice cold? ❄️
New wheels and tires? 🛞
Fixing that suspension noise? 🔧
More power under the hood? 💪
Getting rid of that check-engine light?
Or something completely different?

Year • Make • Model • What are you doing first?

Drop it in the comments. 👇
I have a feeling we’re going to get some good answers on this one. 😂

🏁 ROAD TO 10K

What started as a way to show more of what happens around the shop is turning into something bigger — a page full of local car people, customers, friends, builds, repairs and good conversation.

That’s exactly what we want it to be.

Keep following along. We’ve got a lot more to show you. 🔧🇺🇸

🔧 TECH TIP TUESDAY | WHAT ARE YOUR TIRES TELLING YOU.

🛞 One of the interesting things about front-end problems is that the vehicle doesn’t always drive badly when something first starts wearing.

Sometimes the tires show it first‼️

When inspecting a vehicle, tire wear can give us an early look at what’s happening with the steering, suspension, and alignment.

A tire worn heavily on one edge may point us toward an alignment or geometry issue.

Cupping can lead us toward shocks, struts, balance, or excessive suspension movement.

Feathering across the tread can indicate that the tires aren’t traveling perfectly straight down the road.

And sometimes the pattern is more complicated than any one component.

That’s where looking at the entire vehicle matters.

Tires are constantly leaving clues about how the vehicle is behaving on the road — you just have to know how to read them.

Next time you check your tires, don’t just look at how much tread is left.

👀 Look at HOW that tread is wearing.

🔧 SHOP LIFE MONDAY — BE HONEST👀

Everybody has that ONE thing their vehicle has been doing that they keep saying:

“I’ll get it checked next week.” 😂

Maybe it’s..

👀 A check-engine light that’s been on forever
🔊 A mystery clunk you just turn the radio up over
🛞 Tires that are getting a little too slick
❄️ A/C that only works when it feels like it
🫨 A shake at highway speeds you’ve learned to live with
🔧 Or that oil change that’s about 3,000 miles past “I’ll do it tomorrow”

So let’s hear it — what’s YOUR vehicle doing right now that you’ve been putting off fixing? 😂👇

No judgment. We’ve seen it all.

And who knows — your answer might give us something to cover in the shop this week.

Real vehicles. Real problems. Real shop life.

🔧 WRENCH WEDNESDAY | WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

🚨 You’re driving and your CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT starts FLASHING. What are you doing?

A️⃣ Keep driving — I’ll get it checked later.
B️⃣ Reduce load, get somewhere safe, and address it immediately.

👇 Drop A or B in the comments BEFORE reading the answer!

••••••••••••••••••••

✅ THE ANSWER: B️⃣

Here’s why.

There’s a BIG difference between a check-engine light that’s solid and one that’s flashing.

🟠 SOLID CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT

A solid check-engine light means the vehicle’s computer has detected a fault.

The vehicle may still seem to run normally, but the problem should be properly diagnosed rather than ignored.

🔴 FLASHING CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT

A flashing check-engine light is more urgent and can indicate a serious active engine-management problem, commonly a severe misfire.

Continuing to operate the vehicle under those conditions can cause additional damage, poor performance, excessive fuel consumption, or potentially leave you stranded.

So what happens with each answer?

❌ A️⃣ KEEP DRIVING

Continuing to drive normally while the engine is actively running poorly can take a problem that may have been manageable and turn it into a much larger and more expensive repair.

✅ B️⃣ ADDRESS IT IMMEDIATELY

Reduce engine load and get to a safe location. If the engine is shaking badly, losing significant power, overheating, making abnormal noises, or otherwise running severely poorly, shut it down and have it inspected rather than continuing to drive it.

And here’s another important point:

❌ A TROUBLE CODE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY TELL YOU WHICH PART TO REPLACE.

A diagnostic trouble code tells us what condition the computer detected and which system or circuit needs investigation.

Proper testing determines WHY the code was set and what actually failed.

That’s why diagnosis comes before replacing parts.

💡 WRENCH WEDNESDAY TAKEAWAY

🟠 Solid light: Get it diagnosed.
🔴 Flashing light: Treat it as urgent.

🔧 SHOP LIFE MONDAY | ELECTRICAL REPAIR

Electrical issues are one area where proper diagnosis and workmanship matter.

This dump truck came into the shop for several electrical concerns and wiring repairs.

Once we began inspecting the electrical system, we found numerous previous repairs, splices, damaged wiring, and sections of the harness that had been modified over time.

At that point, we had a decision to make:

Continue repairing individual sections of an already compromised wiring system—or address the problem correctly.

We chose the latter.

Rather than continuing to add repairs to an unreliable foundation, we removed the problem wiring and rewired the system properly from the ground up.

With electrical work, we’re not only concerned with whether something works when it leaves the shop. We’re also looking at proper routing, secure connections, circuit protection, protection from heat and abrasion, and long-term reliability.

Especially on a work truck, downtime costs money. The goal isn’t to get it working for now—the goal is to make a repair we can confidently send back out to work.

This job took considerably more time than repairing a few wires, but sometimes the correct repair is the more involved repair.

Diagnose it correctly.
Repair it properly.
Do it once.

That’s another Shop Life Monday at Anderson Automotive & Customs. 🔧⚡

🔥 SPOTLIGHT FRIDAY 🔥

This Friday we’re switching things up a little and putting the spotlight on some good friends of ours — Giovannie & The Hired Guns🤘🏼

These guys spend a LOT of time on the road, so when they brought their Mercedes Sprinter and trailer into the shop the goal was simple:

Go through it. Fix what needs fixing. And make sure they’re ready for the road‼️

We gave the Sprinter and trailer a complete once-over and service — checking fluids, oil, brakes, servicing and greasing the trailer wheel bearings, and making sure everything was where it needed to be.

But we also had a few issues to tackle.

❄️ The A/C needed some attention.
🛠️ The power steps weren’t coming down.
⚠️ Both Front Seats not working properly.
⚡ And the inverter had burned up, leaving them without a dependable way to power the TVs and other equipment while traveling.

Instead of just replacing what failed and sending them down the road, we upgraded the inverter setup to give them something better suited for the amount of traveling they do.

By the time we were finished, the Sprinter was blowing cold, the steps were working, the electrical setup was back online, the trailer was serviced, and the whole rig was ready to hit the highway again.

That’s one of the things we love about this business.

Not every job that comes through our doors is the same, and sometimes you’ve got to do more than just replace a part — you’ve got to find a solution that actually works for the customer.

Huge thank you to our friends Giovannie and the Hired Guns for trusting us with the rig that keeps them moving from show to show.

Safe travels, fellas. We’ll keep the shop ready for you when you make it back home! 🇺🇸🤘🏼🔥
