HRP ANNOUNCES NEW EMPLOYEE

Christopher Richterberg JR. comes full circle

As of January 2026, Chris completed his tenure with the United States Army and made the move to North Carolina to follow a life long dream of working in the Nitro Harley Industry with Hawaya Racing. Chris will be involved with the National Guard and continuing his education with Wilkes Community College in an effort to prepare for the future. We are all proud to be a part of his endeavor into the world of Nitro Harley drag racing and look forward to working with Chris to help him accomplish the goals he set at a very young age.
Christopher Richterberg Jr. AKA “Lil Chris” is following his dream of throwing his leg over a Nitro Harley Pro Fuel motorcycle (specifically Terminater 1) designed and built by Hawaya Racing Products owner Johnny Vickers. He has had his eye on Terminater 1 from the day of its inception, and we are proud to say that current owner of Terminater 1 Sam White, also owner of White Lightning Racing, made that dream a reality.
Well, it is Lil Chris no more, as he has stepped up and made his first Pro Fuel pass during a recent test session at the legendary Rockingham Dragstrip. To say that we are all proud of Chris would be an understatement. As Dad and Uncle Johnny were there to send Chris down the track for his first pass on Terminater 1, Dad and Aunt Leanne will be the first to admit there might have been a tear in their eyes!! Of course it was exactly as we expected, after 22 years of practicing and envisioning this day in his mind Chris, without one ounce of hesitation, took his first hit and we have no doubt he will go on to have a successful run in the Nitro Harley Racing world!
As many of you know his father Chris Richterberg SR AKA “Big Chris” competed in the Nitro Harley Class for many years and crewed for many years with various championship teams as well as working with Hawaya Racing Products as “Uncle” Johnny Vickers advanced the development (with the help of Jerry Gordon Engineering) of the Derringer Racing Engines. The Derringer Racing Engines are unique as the design allows the first ever motor to be updated and remain competitive in todays current racing industry. Those parts will never be obsolete!! We are proud to say that this has been proven time and time again as the first motors are still racing and winning Championships today.

Justin leineweber and his family stopped in at HRP, him and his race team are running the extreme endro in taylorsville NC. Justin’s dad (Jim leineweber) and I worked together designing cams for the derringer racing engines. In the process, Justin and I became really good friends and it’s great to see Justin carrying on the family business. Justin’s son will be the third generation to run the family business

FAIRFIELD, OH — April 17, 2026 — We have made the decision, in coordination with management at Montgomery International Dragway, to relocate the third race of the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series and IHRA Small Tire BRATZ Series from Montgomery, Alabama.

The event, scheduled for May 7–9, will now take place at Darana Raceway in Hebron, Ohio (National Trail Raceway ). Testing will be held on Wednesday, May 6.

This decision follows a recent shooting at the Montgomery facility. While the situation is unrelated to our operations, we agreed alongside track leadership that relocating the event is the most responsible course of action out of an abundance of caution.

The safety of our racers, their families, crews, partners, fans, and staff remain our top priority. This decision reflects our commitment to providing a safe and professional environment for everyone involved.

With this move, the May 7–9 event in Hebron will now be branded as the IHRA Spring Nationals.

As the third race of the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series season, this event remains a key stop on our national schedule, and championship points will continue as planned.

Due to the relocation, adjustments have been made to the existing event schedule at Darana Raceway to accommodate the IHRA national event weekend.

“To support the IHRA National Series, we’ve adjusted our schedule by moving our points race weekend to June 12–14 and canceling the Darana Triple 5’s event,” said Derrick Beach, General Manager of Darana Raceway.

We will communicate additional details, including schedule updates and ticketing information, directly with racers, teams, and ticket holders.

All current ticket holders will be contacted via email with options to receive a refund or transfer their tickets to another IHRA event.
