Customer stated their operator was using a derrick digger to drill a hole for a post when the unit went in crooked, followed by a loud popping noise. After the incident, the derrick would no longer rotate.

Upon arrival and inspection, our technician determined the issue was likely internal damage within the rotation gearbox, either a broken pinion or failed planetary gears. The rotation gearbox was removed and disassembled for further diagnosis.

During inspection, we found a broken tooth on the pinion gear along with sheared teeth on the planetary carrier that engages directly with the pinion. The damage was consistent with a shock load during operation.

We contacted the gearbox manufacturer, ordered the necessary replacement parts, and completed reassembly once repairs were made so the customer could return the equipment to service.

A customer called us out after experiencing a timing fault code and a misfire around 800 RPM after performing their own front structure repair.

After connecting diagnostic equipment and testing the system, we found the adjustable idler gear was out of spec — a common cause of this timing code. During further inspection, we also discovered damaged cam/crank sensor wiring caused during installation, along with reversed wires in a previous repair.

The idler gear was properly adjusted, wiring was repaired with a new 2-pin Deutsch connector, and the misfire issue was fully resolved.

Truck was cleared and ready to return to service.

Customer reported a hard start condition, stating the engine would only start intermittently. Our technician responded on-site and connected diagnostic equipment, retrieving fault code 0559.
While cranking the engine and monitoring fuel rail pressure, we found pressure would not build beyond 680 PSI. Per Cummins specifications, a minimum of 4,000 PSI is required for proper engine start.
Further inspection required removal of the high-pressure fuel pump head. We identified a failed plunger sealing washer inside the pump head assembly. The pump head was replaced, system reassembled, and fuel pressure restored to proper specification.

✅ Engine now starts and operates as designed.
