To all of those that bought tickets to the Gun and Cash Bash on March 21, 2020,

Because of the recent events surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, we must postpone our event until a later date. Because this event is very difficult to align resources for, we will plan another date and publish that information as soon as we can. All tickets that are sold are loaded into the database and will be honored at the rescheduled event. Should you have any questions, please email the company at [email protected].

As a final note, please take the necessary precautions to protect you and your family during the time. Practice good hygiene and proper handwashing techniques. Limit your exposure as much as possible. As always, we rely heavily on the support of the community and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we work through this in our communities.

May God bless each of you and keep you safe,

Allegheny Mountains Weather

The times to watch for that this event goes to plain rain tomorrow, and or overnight tomorrow into Tuesday morning....those typical holdout areas likely run 32° and under, longer than the NWS forecast currently have.
The evolution of the NWS forecast from 2 days ago went from changing it to rain early to mid morning Monday, then early afternoon, then evening, then early overnight, now even post midnight in north eastern Garrett before changeover. ... One more extension will probably occur in their forecast.
In all likelihood once the brief thump of snow occurs tonight(1-5am window), the winter storm warning in Garrett, western Allegany should go to a ice storm warning. At least one would suspect that, given the setup.
Ice thoughts
The green area trace to a tenth, yellow area around a tenth, white area .1 to .2 , red areas .2 to .4 ice possible, orange .3 to .6, purple .4 to .75. East facing areas having the heaviest icing with gusty 15 to 30mph winds out of the east overnight.
The deeper valleys east hold ice into the early overnight, but this isn't quite like the recent setup of a departing cold dry air mass in place. . There may be lingering pockets, but the higher east facing ridges should see the greatest impacts. Dan's Mt and Savage Mt leading the way.

Volunteers from Garrett County Law Enforcement agencies along with the Garrett County Department of Social Services and members of AmeriCorps have partnered to organize the “Police Providing Presents” event to benefit local children.

This nationwide event may be called different names, but the event’s meaning stays the same. The event provides selected Garrett County children the opportunity to be paired with members from the Maryland State Police, Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, Oakland City Police, Maryland Natural Resource Police and the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office who will spend time together as partners for the day.

The event provides the opportunity for children to go shopping with a police officer in order to purchase presents for their family and themselves, attend a luncheon, and have the presents wrapped by volunteers. The “Police Providing Presents” event is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th, with a make-up date on Sunday, December 8th.

We are graciously asking for donations in support of this program to provide each child the opportunity to make their holidays a little brighter. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made in person or by mailing a check or money order to Garrett County Department of Social Services (GCDSS), 12578 Garrett Highway, Oakland, Maryland 21550 and specify “Police Providing Presents”. Although, the preferred method is checks or money order, cash donations are acceptable and can be dropped off in person at GCDSS.

If you have additional questions, please contact F/Sergeant Brad Williams at 301-387-1101. Thank you for your interest and helping to make this program a success.

Allegheny Mountains Weather

Fast update-
Rainfall overnight, a lull in action for a period tomorrow morning before action picks back up. Opportunity exist for stronger storms with the front, winds increase, 25-35mph with gust to 50mph in many areas, with gust exceeding 60mph across the higher exposed Wv high ground, winds slacken some overnight Thursday, but remain up enough with temps falling into the 20s to provide for windchills 10-20 for most, and 0-10° Wv high ground(3800'+) by Friday a.m.
Snow- looks minimal and best shot at any very light accumulation(inch or less) looks to be above 3500-4000'. Flakes can fly below that elevation. Any light accumulations depends on if the cold air can catch the back edge of the main precip as it exits the area if things whiten up in spots.
Weekend- high valleys in the teens Saturday a.m....
Possibly a brief whitening could occur Sunday a.m as well at 2000' + elevations.
