Clean up and reprep starts now for American Rally Association 2026 season. Got to get it back to ‘that’s too nice to rally’ level 😎.

Here’s a quick clip from . It’s a good representation of the speed and hidden landmines that can pop up. Have a look at the pic of the strut top aftermath. Takes lots of force to strip the bolts and bend a steel plate… car still drove well after.
Unfortunately we had to dnf after a blown turbo oil seal caused us to loose over two quarts of oil in two stages. Thank you to the fellow competitors for the oil on the start of stage eight and sorry for the Spy Hunter-esq smoke screen before the stage. But as they say, that’s rally. We’ll fix/rebuild/strengthen and get ready for next season.

All set for Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR) tomorrow 😎.

Well Overmountain Rally didn’t finish the way we were hoping. We had a really good rally going, 2nd in class and the possibility of an overall podium for regional.
That is until I noticed a small crack in the front diff casing after day two. An attempt was made to seal the weeping oil, but the diff casing had other ideas and split in two on stage 12. We tried to get it back to service, but only made it about half way (luckily to a pizza place, where we of course ordered a pizza and I drink about six diet cokes while wanting for our ride back to get the truck).
Working now to see if I can find parts for the plated Gemini l*d and fit it into a spare standard diff I have. In time I’ll need to upgrade the diff case, as this was a know and fixed issue 30 years ago with a rally thick wall casing.

Check out the Prop Shaft Disconnect Unit and dual master cylinder Handbrake.

This is something I’ve been working on for a while now and after like three designs (first two pretty much failed instantly), I think I have it!

The MT75 gearbox does not have the ability to release the rear drive (like a Subaru), so when I’ve pulled the hydraulic handbrake in the past, the rear will lock as well as the fronts. The car will plows forward versus rotate. The Group A gearboxes did have a disconnect built into rear of the boxes, but as the Brits say - they’re rare as hens teeth…

This unit will decouple the rear prop shaft and allow the rear brakes to lock. Finally giving the ability to do those sweet, sweet handbrake turns. lol

Will need to get some practice with this, before but it should really make hairpins on gravel a lot faster than what I’ve been doing. And of course who doesn’t love a sideways Es**rt Cosworth 😉
