No start on this 3rd Gen 5.9 Cummins came in needing ether just to fire. That’s usually a sign the engine isn’t getting the fuel pressure it needs to start.

After diagnostics we found high pressure fuel pump and injector failure, preventing the system from building proper rail pressure during cranking.

On common rail Cummins engines, the truck needs adequate fuel pressure before the ECM will allow the injectors to fire. When the pump or injectors fail, you’ll often see:
• Long crank or no start
• Engine only starts with ether
• Low rail pressure while cranking
• Rough running or misfires

Proper diagnosis is key before throwing parts at it. Once the high pressure fuel system fails, components often need to be replaced together to restore correct fuel pressure and prevent repeat failures.

Came in with a P0402 — EGR valve stuck and a 97% soot load (she was begging for help).

We got it handled and back to where it should be:
✅ EGR issue resolved
✅ Soot load addressed
✅ Truck is healthy and ready to head back to the customer

🚨 CP4 Failure = More Than a Fuel Issue 🚨

This 2011 Ford F-350 was towed in for a failed CP4.
Upon teardown, we discovered failed lifter/cam damage that couldve been missed , leading to catastrophic engine failure.

Instead of patching it together, the customer opted for:
🔧 Newer long block
🔧 Transmission upgrade
🔧 Preventive failure mods

When CP4s fail, they don’t always fail quietly.
