Vintage Bike Projects

Vintage Bike Projects We refurbish vintage and classic "quality brand" road bikes Part of my duties included assembling new bikes and repairing customer's bikes.

When I was 15 years old, in 1973, I had a summer job at the Western Auto store in Scottsboro, Alabama. (This was in addition to sweeping the floor and helping with the delivery of washers and deep freezers). At that time, the "ten speed" road bike was just coming into popularity. Western Auto sold "Western Flyer" and "Murray" branded bikes, not the fancy English, French, or Italian models. But oc

casionally, a customer would bring in a Raleigh that needed new cables, or brakes, or derailleur adjustments. I always enjoyed working with the old quality brand road bikes. Our primary interest at Vintage Bike Projects is breathing new life into old, tired and neglected bikes. Most bikes that were nice quality bikes when they were new, can be made into nice quality bikes again. On the other hand, bikes that were junk when they were new, just become old junk. Lugged steel frame bikes are our primary focus, and we are always looking for good candidates for rejuvenation. Also, if you need assistance with your own bike's needs, I am happy to help out where I can.
