If you had one fixed location to place a fuel tank on, would your preference be round, square, or something built differently? We ran the numbers on three tank profiles:
Cylindrical, Square, and our Grande tank.
All sized to fit the exact same footprint: 96" x 118" (about 79 sq ft of ground space).
Here's what we found:
→ Cylindrical: 3,697 gallons (47 gal per sq ft of footprint)
→ Square: 4,708 gallons (60 gal per sq ft of footprint)
→ Grande: 5,590 gallons (71 gal per sq ft of footprint)
Same pad. Same site plan.
A round tank only holds 66% of the storage capacity the Grande delivers, and a standard square tank captures just 84%.
A round tank wastes volume at the corners of its footprint.
A square tank does better, but is capped by its own width.
The Grande is engineered to capture the height a fixed footprint allows, turning unused vertical space into usable capacity.
If your site space is fixed but your fuel demand isn't, the shape of your tank matters as much as its size.
What's driving your next fuel storage decision — footprint, capacity, or both?
