⚠️ Intermittent P0087? Don’t be too quick to blame the CP3. ⚠️

This 2008 LMM Duramax came in with an intermittent P0087 (Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low). After some thorough diagnostics, we tracked the issue down to a fuel filter head pulling air into the low-pressure fuel system feeding the CP3 pump in the valley.

To pinpoint the source, we installed clear fuel hose on both the inlet and outlet sides of the filter head. This allowed us to visually inspect the fuel while the engine was running and determine whether the aeration was occurring before or after the filter head. Seeing air bubbles in the clear line made it easy to confirm the filter head was the culprit—not the CP3.

Proper diagnostics save customers money by replacing the failed component instead of throwing expensive parts at a problem.

Another one back on the road and ready to work! 💪

This 1997 Dodge 2500 12-Valve Cummins came to us looking for more power while consistently towing 10,000–12,000 lbs. We installed 3K governor springs and a #11 fuel cam plate in the legendary P7100 P-pump, giving this truck the extra fueling and horsepower it needs to pull hard without breaking a sweat.

Governor spring installs aren’t a “throw it together” kind of job. Inside the P-pump are tiny shims, springs, and seats that require patience and precision—drop one into the pump, and you’re in for a bad day. Once everything is assembled, the governor spring preload must be carefully adjusted with a dial caliper to .040”–.050” to ensure proper governor operation and smooth, consistent fueling.

It’s the little details that separate a quality pump upgrade from one that causes headaches down the road.

Another one back on the road safely 💪

A customer contacted us after hearing an air leak and suspected it was coming from a rear drive brake chamber. Once on site, we confirmed the left rear drive brake chamber was leaking past the internal diaphragm and also had a broken internal spring.

This is a major safety concern on a truck hauling up to 80,000 lbs and would’ve easily resulted in a DOT out-of-service violation if left unchecked. We replaced the faulty chamber, verified proper brake operation, and got this truck back in safe working order.

Catching issues early can save downtime, prevent roadside breakdowns, and most importantly keep drivers safe.

No days off for this CAT 3116! During a routine service inspection, we tracked down multiple oil leaks and got this engine cleaned up the right way.

We found leaks coming from the front timing case outer cover, the power steering pump adapter mounting to the rear of the front cover, and a turbo oil feed fitting at the top of the filter head with busted O-rings. We repaired everything using all CAT OE gaskets, fittings, and seals to ensure the best long-term reliability.

Proper prep work is key — every sealing surface was thoroughly cleaned and prepped to ensure the gaskets have the best chance at holding long term and keeping the oil where it belongs… inside the engine, not all over it.

No days off for this Kenworth T800 — we were called in for a thermostat replacement on this Caterpillar C15 to keep this truck running cool and working hard. 🔧🚛

On the C15, the thermostat housing is removed as one complete assembly and separated on the bench for proper service. During the repair, both thermostats were replaced along with new brass seals, which are extremely important for proper coolant flow regulation. These seals help prevent coolant from slipping past the thermostats and ensure they seat correctly inside the housing for proper engine operating temperature.

It’s the small details during installation that make the difference between a quick fix and a reliable repair built to last.

Got called out for a brake air leak on this Peterbilt, and during inspection we found more going on than just one bad chamber.

One of the brake chambers was leaking air, but while performing the repair and final safety check we discovered a second chamber had a broken internal spring, which means the park brake was no longer applying properly — a serious safety concern that could easily go unnoticed during normal operation.

We replaced both brake chambers to restore safe and proper braking performance.

If you look closely at the pictures, you can see the difference in pushrod stroke length between the old and new chamber. That extra travel is a clear sign of a failed internal spring. On top of that, leaking diaphragms inside brake chambers can also cause wheel drag, because the chamber can’t fully release — leading to premature brake wear, reduced fuel efficiency, and unsafe driving conditions.

Catching issues like this early is exactly why a proper inspection during repairs matters.
