Maintenance more more more of it better maintenance Look Listen and Smell. If it looks broke probably is fix it. If it doesn’t sound right somethings probably wrong find it and repair it. If it doesn’t smell normal or smells burnt probably is repair it. Stay on top of the small stuff so it doesn’t turn into big stuff. You can’t do your job if you always have your blinders on. Open your eyes look at every nut bot weld hose etc. That’s only way I was thought was to fix it not over look it and hope the next guy finds it. Hate a half ass mechanic do it right or get out of the way for someone else to do it correct.

Greater Kansas City Fire Fighters

On November 29, 1988 six Kansas City Fire Fighters started their shift and would never return home. Overnight prior to the end of their shift they would perish from a tragic explosion on a construction site.

Tomorrow on the 30th Anniversary at 10 a.m. we will return to that site to honor our brothers.

All KCFD members attending Thursday's 30/41 memorial service at 10:00 AM at the memorial site on 87th Street and Blue River Road just east of I-49 are requested to wear Class A uniforms with covered badges. If you have a fire department dress uniform, it can be worn for this service.

Those men were from KCFD Pumper 30 and KCFD Pumper 41.

From Pumper 30:

Gerald C. Halloran, 57, married with three children and six grandchildren. Halloran had served more than 37 years and was considering retirement at the end of 1988.

Luther Eugene Hurd, 31, married with three children. Ordinarily he worked at Station 23 on the East Side but volunteered to fill in at Station 30 that night. He was a 10-year veteran of the department.

Thomas Fry, 41, was divorced with one child, and had been a firefighter for more than 15 years.

From Pumper 41:

James H. Kilventon Jr., 54, married with two children. He had served more than 27 years on the force.

Michael R. Oldham, 32, married with two children, an 11-year veteran of the department. His father had been a firefighter.

Robert D. McKarnin, 42, who had spent almost 20 years with the Fire Department. He served all that time at Station 41. He was married with two children.

Our memorial site for the explosion, a memorial that has been funded and taken care of by our members. Please keep our membership and the friends and families of these brothers in your thoughts and prayers.

We will never forget, we love you Brothers, Rest In Peace.

Just wanted to take time and wish all of our Customers and Friends many Prayers for our Central and Hill Country Emergency Personal. When you spend as much time as we do with people they become a part of you and become extended family and friends. So many people being affected at one time but just like during Harvey the great folks of Texas will look out and help one another.

Just watched and update on the accident involving Lake Travis Fire Rescue And just wanted to commend the Spokesman On his amazing knowledge and speaking and his preparation. This is one of many of the fine Fire Departments we have the privilege to work for and Service. They are a Truly Devoted and Organized Organization and always paying attention to Detail and Safety. My Employees and I wish the Personal and their family’s well and our Prayers. We would like to extend our Prayers and Well wishes to the Civilian Individuals that were also injured.

There have been two package bombs today in Travis County.

Both are reported to be similar in design and delivery as the one from just a few weeks ago. Two people are dead. Two hospitalized.

If you see a package at your door that you didn’t order or plan on receiving, especially if the labeling lacks a postmark or other identifying marks...

STOP, DON’T TOUCH IT, and CALL 911.

While these incidents are currently isolated within the City of Austin, vigilance is encouraged.

Together we can keep each other safe.

We are your #LTfirefighters
You call. We’re there.
