K20A Type R longblock refreshed headed back to our customer in New York. At the request of the owner we disassembled this engine to clean and examine engine as it’s a new build but was assembled a few years ago. When I initially tore down I found contaminants that had made it through the engine even though it had never ran. Also found the rod caps were installed backwards on the rod 🤔 also in my inspection the ring gaps were all over the place and not evenly ground.

So we ended up replacing the rods with some h beam forged rods and race bearings. We also put new rings with correct ring gaps. This thing is ready to be a monster.

We’re finally at the end of this awesome project. If you have seen the YouTube videos we found this had a fully built engine but assembled incorrectly. We luckily sourced a new GSR locally rebuilt it. The Mini also had installed that we tuned in house and got it running flawlessly.
