Hi Everyone. We have both good and bad news for fans of the Great Island Triathlons. The good news is that our long-time race director, Drew Talbot, is stepping to the side to make room for the next generation of leadership for our race. Sara Phillips, Senior Program Director at our local YMCA, is going to take the reigns. She is amazingly capable and will be surrounded by all of us who have been working to bring this race to you over the years, including Drew. We are excited to see how this race can develop under her leadership.

Having said that, we were not able to make the leadership transition quickly enough to pull off the 2025 edition of the event. We are deeply sorry to those of you looking forward to racing with us. However, we are excited to begin planning for 2026 early enough to make it an awesome, well-attended race. We will update you about next year's dates in the coming weeks. Thank you for your excitement and support as we serve so many of our local, Lock Haven, PA non-profit organizations. We hope your racing season is filled with injury-free, hard, but rewarding success. Don't forget to enjoy the people around you as you push toward your goals. We will see you next year!

As in years past, there will be no team registrations on race day. We prefer to have everyone sign up by Friday evening (June 21 @ 8pm) via Webscorer.com, but race day registrations for athletes doing all three legs of the race will be available on the morning of the race. Please bring a check or we can do Venmo: no credit cards can be processed on site. Can't wait to enjoy the morning fun with you all!

The bike course is marked with red arrows painted on the right side of the road. I did not mark the ends of the Jay Street Bridge, as I was hoping not to upset city officials :) Just remember that you need to take a right when you reach the stop sign to cross the bridge, and take a right when you exit the bridge. That will bring you back to the boat launch. Today, they had the road chewed up on the boat launch side of the bridge. I don't know if that will be fixed by race day, so be careful coming off the Jay Street Bridge.

Kraig Brady has done it again! His endless creativity on our tree theme is awesome. Well, now that you know what you're training for, I hope you stay healthy, work hard, and have a lot of fun with us on June 22nd, as we see who will take home these top trophies.

In case you are interested, we got the official okay for those of you who might want to camp Friday evening at Riverview Park, just up river from our transition area. There are no utilities, but there is room if you want to pitch a tent or pull up your camper. I suppose you could even just park your SUV, roll out your sleeping bag, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Of course, there are hotels in town, too, if that is more your style ;)

Friendly reminder that June 1 is our registration deadline for a guaranteed shirt of your size or a towel. Yes, we will order extras, but that doesn't always mean a lot if you are the one without a shirt. So, see the Webscorer link below to register.

Ready for the 2024 race shirt? Here it is! We decided to go with the heathered navy and grey ink. It is wonderfully soft, just like past shirts. If you have already registered for the race, you know that this year we have the option of choosing a race towel instead of the shirt. Our printer is mocking up a picture of what the towel will look like, but just know that it will be a grey towel with the logo in blue embroidery. We will get the picture up as soon as we can. For now, here is the plain towel: microfiber, 16.5" x 40" (just one towel :)).

Great news for 2024! We recently found out that PennDOT will allow us to use Jay St. Bridge this year since the road construction has moved away from the intersection between Jay Street and Coudersport Pike. That means we are back to our 14 mile bike course! I know most of us like this course much better than the never ending climb from last year's course. Racers will get to pass by transition area on their way to their second loop. That means extra energy for the racers and extra fun for the supporters cheering them on! Check out the race maps for a description of each leg. You will notice that the only difference between the two triathlons is the first leg: kayak or swim. Everyone here is excited to see you on June 22!
