Honest question for the cab:
Your steering-wheel stereo buttons.
1 — Work like they should

2 — Volume only, everything else is for show

3 — Dead since the last radio

4 — Never had them, don’t miss them
One number. Truck year and make if you want.
What’s yours?

Factory speakers last about as long as factory coffee.

Some of you are still running the originals and they’ve gone soft. Some swapped the 6x9s and swear the stereo finally woke up. Some added a small sub and now the bunk rattles like a toolbox.

No pitch. Just curious what actually changed the cab for you.

1 — Still on factory speakers

2 — Swapped the speakers, kept the radio

3 — Stereo and speakers

4 — Sub in the sleeper and no regrets
Drop the number and the truck (year / make). If you’ve got a “don’t bother” combo, say that too.
What’s the first thing you’d replace in the dash tomorrow?

09/05/2026

Coffee. Radio. AC.
One of them dies mid-shift. Which one ruins the day first?

1: Coffee’s gone. You’re 400 miles out and every truck-stop pot tastes like it was brewed last Tuesday.
2: Radio’s dead. No music, no talk, no weather. Just the drone of the motor and your own thoughts.
3: AC’s out. It’s July. The cab feels like a toaster. You’re melting into the seat.

Comment 1, 2, or 3.
Then tell the truth in the next line. No “it depends.” Pick one.
Tag the driver who would still try to finish the load with all three broken.

No wrong answers. Just honest ones.

Same dash. Two generations.
Panasonic Infotainment is what new Kenworths and Petes are rolling with — Apple CarPlay, truck nav, up to four cameras.
SmartNav 2.0 and NavPlus HD are the gen-2 kits a lot of you already know: CoPilot, CD player, virtual gauges, same 7" opening.
If you’re replacing a dead screen and don’t want to buy the wrong era, we lined them up:
CarPlay or no CarPlay.

Which camera adapter.

Gen-1 wiring vs gen-2.

What you keep and what you give up.

What’s in your dash right now — first-gen, SmartNav / NavPlus HD, or already Infotainment?

Every trucker has that song.
The one that comes on at 2:17 a.m. somewhere in Nebraska, Wyoming, or the middle of nowhere on I-80… and suddenly the next 200 miles don’t feel so long.
Not the song you play when you’re backing into a dock.

The one you play when the cab is dark, the road is empty, and the radio is the only company that doesn’t ask questions.
Drop yours in the comments.
Bonus points if it’s a song you’d never admit to blasting in the yard.
Tag a driver who still thinks their playlist is better than yours.

Good sound makes a long night shorter. What’s the song that gets you through it?

SEPTEMBER 2026 CENTERFOLD: Logan Wood (20) of Wood & Sons Trucking in Fresno, CA owns and operates this recently refreshed 2016 Peterbilt 388, which was converted to a 389, by rebuilding the short hood without a slope. Logan is the 4th generation of the Wood family to drive trucks, and although he is very young, this kid is also very sharp! The truck is powered by a 500-hp Cummins X15, hooked to a 13-speed, with 3.70 rears and a modest 235-inch wheelbase. Most of the build was done by our friends at A&L Truck Supply in Tulare, CA. Logan primarily uses the truck, which has a 1990s vibe, to haul equipment on his Landoll trailer and almonds on his flatbed around California’s Central Valley, but he also pulls an end dump on occasion, as well.
