1st ANNUAL NW REGIONAL VAN MEET!

Born from the exhaust of the 50th nats and the reality that 1000 miles away was as close as would ever get to the northwest. The reality of getting 40-50 year old rigs across country set in and the idea of a NW regional was put in motion. Rather than create a stand alone event the NW regional will rotate annually to a different established NW event each year with the first one hosted at Montvana. The existing event timing, location and fabric will remain the same with gigantic added features, awards and activities mostly by way of contributions from clubs in the region. Clubs will host activities, present their own unique awards, feed the entire campground meals, host games and supply kegs, liquor and party favors. For the first NW regional Rose of custom vanner magazine, Emily from and a few other notables will do category judging with a dozen trophies hanging in the balance. Bands will be bigger and badder with 3-4 international touring acts and the party will be wilder…. and longer. With early camping starting Monday July 15th and the event closing Sunday July 21st. Since it is at Montvana the event will be FREE! Free camping, free awards, free activities, free music, free raffle and of course FREE BEER. This event is going to be bananas so start planning now and let’s get wild in the woods the way vannin’ was meant to be!

This is it, the next few weeks are crunch time for with close on the heals. This is when things go sideways for people and they drop like flys and you hear a lot of “maybe next year”. It has happened to me with getting my rig to events so I understand and sympathize 10000%. But there will not always be a next year (I swear each year is my last). So in regards to please know that if you are a vanner you are welcome in any form: jump in with someone else, drive the daily, take a train (or plane) and ride with us or use one of the spare vans, rent a rig! Yeah, getting your van here is rad but you are value added just by being here no matter how. So you are welcome as early as noon on July 19th until we boot you at 11am on July 23rd 16 miles up pipe creek road north of Libby Montana (look for the skid marks). Your dog is welcome, your friends are welcome (you are responsible for both and knowing how they will interact with others). We will supply the platform for a good time but we need you there to help launch that rocket. Please see the tentative, rough schedule for the 19th-22nd in the second frame. We do not keep track of time at Montvana and we don’t have cell service so be prepared to surrender. See you at Nats, see you at Montvana or see you at !

I met Reid at Vantopia 8 in 2022 and always look forward to my interactions with him. Wonderfully understated and congenial he is always the first to nonchalantly saunter up with a slight grin giving away how excited he is about whatever is happening. Usually music, motorcycles, skateboarding, and especially vans. In particular hanging out around vans, vanners and his van. He has reason to be excited about his absolutely stunning rig which is a 1978 G10 originally owned by his friends uncle Mike who “knew he liked shiny s**t”. The van was 85% done, Reid re-barreled the rims, re-did the flares, added ac, pinstriped and painted the interior dash and did a bunch of extras. He pulled the engine and re did it over last winter, it’s a 383 stroker with a comp cam, aluminum heads, comp rocker rollers, edelbrock AVS2 thunder carburetor, custom ceramic coated long tube headers, Holley frost bite radiator, th350 trans with 4.10’s in the rear and sounds ferocious.
Paint was done by Gary miller (aka Gamboogie) in 2016. Besides the obvious, the van being spotless and the massive murals, what is really striking and unique, is the formidable stance. It rolls on Mikey Thompson sportsman SR’s at 29x15 in the rear and 26x15 in the front on those re-barreled rims. Reid is hustling to swap in a 700r4 transmission prior to so let’s all give him some s**t so he gets it done and can roll down and van internationally! You have to see this van and you definitely need to hang with Reid! **t

We ( and ) got very lucky with a ton of talent for this mix tape. We invited bands associated with the clubs and our events to contribute a track with no parameters other than keep it under seven minutes…. And this thing ended up absolutely ripping! (thanks to for editing and mastering) . It is a lot of fun to stuff in the dashboard and put the shoulder to the wheel (road tested this weekend to and from ). It is also available for download on bandcamp and streaming on Spotify. We will have more road music on these formats from very soon! This project has been rattling around for a very long time and huge thanks to for knocking it out of the park on graphics, for hosting the printable download, and all the vanners that contributed to the beta testing and final version content ( for making the cheese ball and hosting us) and for printing the hard copy color versions that will be available for impromptu tournament play at and . Afterwards those copies will reside will various clubs and live on. Tonight we will sit down with and to talk about the game, another exciting project that releases next week, summer events and clubs! **t

Glacier VC spring dust off! Come out before the show and line 'em up for the first time this year. We can talk summer plans (Vantopia, convoy to Van Nats, montvana schedule and new features, cruise plan for around the flathead lake and Rolling Death). The show lineup is stacked and it will be the first Weaponeers set in five years.
If by any chance out of towners want to join in camping at the house can be had for the weekend of course (our place is always open to vanners). Let's Roll!

Montvana 5! July 19-23rd. 16 miles north of Libby Montana up Pipe Creek rd. There will be plenty of signage. The event and camping is free as always! Scott Schafer of Trampvanners killed it with the artwork for this year and there will be t-shirts, posters and stickers available soon to help offset some of the costs a little. We went a little bigger on some things like music this year so we need all the help we can get. See you in July!!!!!

The dual mid-dodge rigs of .eliason.art.machine and . One dodge lives in South Dakota (after a fresh rebuild on the 360 just before going in storage) conveniently staged in the Midwest for easy access to nats especially this year. The white rig resides with them in Seattle snd was rescued from some folks that used it to go to burning man every year. So now definitely living a better life. The van was red and painted entirely white save for the flames taped off beforehand to expose the only traces of the old color. Sandra and Brandon made their way out from Seattle for last year and I got a chance to catch up with them out that way in the fall a long with some other van folk. As it turns out there is a pretty solid contingent of vanners in the SeaTac area all willing to put in the miles. Washington vanners in general are a force and always delightful. I look forward to seeing these two again in just about a month!!!
