This is the story of my first board "Theseus". Some of this may seem familiar to you if you've read Miraidon's post, as their stories intertwine.
This lil guy started out as good ol' "Blue" blue railguards, blue fender, etc. Overtime, I began steadily changing and upgrading parts as the my awareness of the aftermarket matured as well as my technical knowledge of this vehicle matured.
At first I had the grand notion of making this board into Miraidon, at the same time, still trying to figure out "What I can do to make this ride more comfortable and functional?" A large part of this board's story was involved with the work I was doing.
I was traveling on the road working Music Festivals. Around mid 2022, I was able to ride someone else Onewheel XR for a couple days at their house. From the moment we left, I could not stop thinking about getting my own, and I also thought I can justify this purchase with increasing my utility at work.
I would mainly use this board to get around site quickly and efficiently. I became the runner boy. My main task became pulling hand trucks full of product or hundreds of pounds of ice to and fro.
Funny story: there was this one time I was still trying to learn curb nudges, and I tried to, with a dolly full of 2 closed 5 lbs buckets of tzaziki sauce.
Like a total goober, I managed to get up the curb but the dolly slammed full speed into it, and of course, both buckets hit the ground and spilled everywhere!
Boy howdy did I get chewed out by my boss, but at the end of that show, we still ended up with extra sauce to still throw away, so I guess it worked out. The very next weekend I purchased a set of flight fins so that would (hopefully) never happen again..
Eventually with each part I ended up replacing, with each upgrade I ended up installing, the board strayed more and more from what was once the good ol' Blue, until the board was no longer fit to be called that.
The condition of this board felt more inline with the legend of the Ship of Theseus, and so, That is what I renamed him to: The Wheel of Theseus.
There will always be more to say about Theseus, so expect more posts to come, but for now, he is as he is.
