What kind of wood is that?! That is one of the most common questions I get about the C10. The bed of this C10 I built as a “monoblock” style assembly. Normally on C10’s the bed is bolted together. You won’t find that here! With the help of new Auto Metal Direct panels and the 4” wider wheel tubs I fabricated everything together to keep tighter tolerances and achieve a cleaner look. The bed is channeled to the chassis and sits on a Art Morrison Enterprises / AME 4x4 GT Sport chassis that is smoothed and to take it up a notch! The bed has two “luggage” compartments in the front and in the rear holds the OPTIMA Batteries underneath. The bed door lifts up with the help of Ringbrothers hinges and Dakota Digital actuators. You will also notice the custom 3” Borla Performance exhaust when the door is up. The wood is a little bit different than you would normally find! It is a wood called Brazilian Ironwood. It has an extremely high hardness on the Janka scale which helps with reducing moisture when outside at shows or on the road. This wood came from a tree between 80-100 years old. It allows to keep tighter tolerances as the wood simply does not expand and contract at the same rate as other woods. So hard in fact you can drill and tap the backside of it! It is help in place with custom machined aluminum rails that mimic the tailgate design. This hides all fasteners and allows for a much cleaner look. The fuel tank is also hidden within the rear assembly of the bed and rear body electronics. No wires are visible underneath or up top. The final wrapper on it is the matte clear in the bed from Surventis Refinish NA These are some of the details not seen at the show easily without being underneath it!

Peek under the hood! Come see the C10 at Goodguys Rod & Custom this weekend in Dallas, Texas in the Griot’s Garage booth! Under the hood you’ll find the 650HP LT4 Chevrolet Performance crate engine backed by a 10 Speed 10L90 Transmission. Exhausting those gases is a custom set of polished Ultimate Headers to tie into the Borla Performance exhaust. Providing electrical power to the truck is a Powermaster Performance alternator with Street Machine Works / Drive J***y serpentine system. I meticulously painted the drivetrain assemblies to allow it to effortlessly continue the same theme into the engine bay. Of course getting to that point required a lot of fabrication work to make it possible. I got with Auto Metal Direct to get all new metal for the C10 in order to have a solid foundation. I fabricated two custom wheel tubs that hog the Art Morrison Enterprises / AME 4x4 frame using a pull-max and custom set of dies to give it more dimension. The same design is carried onto the custom fabricated firewall that wraps seamlessly around the LT4. Mounted to the inside of the firewall is a Wilwood Engineering master cylinder along with the custom IDIDIT Steering column. The engine stays nice and cool thanks to two SPAL_USA fans tucked within the radiator assembly. All of the Vintage Air cooling lines are hidden within the engine compartment to keep the drivetrain the focal point. Capping off the radiator and intercooler assemblies sits a custom fabricated cover that protects all electrical and cooling components. Underneath the hood you’ll find a custom set of Design Engineering, Inc. under hood mats to keep it simple but effective. When the hood is closed and on the road you’ll notice the LT4 gets fresh clean air from the lower valance on the front. Breathing in clean filtered air from the K&N Filters filter within the lower air box. To top it off the engine bay features a Matte Clear from Surventis Refinish NA to add more contrast to the engine compartment. Come see it this weekend!! It was a great weekend Triple Crown of Rodding spending time with friends Teresa Finch Paul Finch and mentors KTL Restorations Inc along with all the great companies who worked with me on the C10 build! KTL debuted their firebird at the show and had a killer F100 that came factory with a 428 CobraJet. Catch the C10 next at Texas Goodguys Rod & Custom in October!
