Motorcycles typically require their own, separate motorcycle insurance coverages. Your regular auto insurance usually won’t cover a bike. In Pennsylvania, you’ll need motorcycle insurance in place to register the motorcycle (and the insurance should match the owner name on the registration/title paperwork).

Buying a vehicle through a private sale in State College or Lewistown? A bill of sale is highly recommended.

If the purchase price reported on a vehicle is less than 80% of fair market value, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue may send a letter requesting documentation to verify the sale price. Having a clear bill of sale can help support the purchase price reported at the time of transfer and make the process easier if questions come up later.
