Feel Good Friday: The Girl Boss in the Paint Shop

This week, we are headed to Nashville where one of our girl bosses absolutely knocks her job out of the park! Liz Zummach is one of our Paint & Body Technicians in Nashville, and I’m told that no one can paint match after a repair like Liz. Her work goes far beyond paint matching, as she absolutely nails the repaint jobs on some very detailed paint designs following repairs. Beyond that, she’s absolutely dominating in what has traditionally been a man’s world, posting more than 300 billed hours for 2 of the last 3 months.

As I reached out to her team for their input, Ray Taylor, one of our Paint & Body Advisors, responded and said, “Liz, you are awesome! You always bring a can-do attitude and consistently demonstrate your talent as a painter. I am so proud of you and truly blessed to have you on our team. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Keep kicking butt and doing what you do best!”

Following Ray, Catie Nealeigh, our Warranty Administrator, told me, “Meeting Liz and talking with her comes very easily and naturally. She is a great asset to NIRVC, always friendly, motivated, hardworking, and welcoming. As a fairly new employee coming from Florida to Tennessee, Liz has made me feel comfortable and truly part of the team.”

Cheryl Bodin, our GM in Nashville and a total Girl Boss herself, emailed me to say, "I am super excited for Liz to be our Feel Good Friday recipient! She has been a fantastic addition to our NIRVC family here in Nashville. She has overcome many obstacles since her arrival. She wasn't as confident in herself as we all were in her abilities. She has grabbed the bull by the horns and earned the 300-club honor twice with a personal best in September of 347 hours. Way to rock it, Lady! She is a great mom and has a great partner in Tyler. We are so thankful that they took a chance on us. Thank you for all that you do Liz!"

And, y’all already know I love it when the boys show up with the admiration for their teams. This week was no different. Bradley (‘Bama) Petree, one of our Technicians, wrote in to say, “What to say about Liz … 🤔 Well, to be a woman and working in the environment she does, not to mention the oven of a paint booth lol, she’s simply an amazing painter. She’s achieved goals that are very tough to reach. She’s always smiling. She’s fun to hang around. Definitely proud to have her on our team!! Way to go Liz!!”

Then, Frank Hattrem, our Service Advisor, messaged to say, “I'm thinking that smile may be painted on. Seems impossible to have at all times. She always has a positive attitude and always asks how you are doing. Happy to have her as part of the team!”

Hearing from our Paint & Body Manager in Atlanta was not on my radar. But Mike Burns emailed in, and I loved every single word of it. Mike said, “When I first met Liz, I realized right away that she was 110% full of talent, wisdom, and the courage to step in and make things happen. She does not, and will not, back down from a challenge. Her work speaks for itself. It was really great to spend a few weeks in Nashville watching her study the process, learn how everything worked, and then jump right in. She doesn’t just stand back and watch. She gets involved, takes on the challenge, and gets things done.”

“Liz, after 36 years in this business, I rank you right up there at the top. I have worked with a lot of talented people over the years, and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the years to come. But one of the most awesome things I saw had nothing to do with work. At the end of the day, Liz turns back into Mom and wife, and you can see how much her family means to her. To be able to give so much professionally and still be so dedicated to a great family says a lot about who she is as a person. Liz, keep doing what you’re doing. You have an incredible future ahead of you here at National Indoor RV, and you’ve earned every bit of it.”

Right after Mike, Jason Douglas, our Paint & Body Manager in Nashville, Liz’s immediate manager said, “You will never meet someone who takes more pride in her work than Liz. She holds herself to incredibly high standards and will not consider a job complete until she is confident that it meets those standards. She also takes the time to make sure she fully understands a job before starting it, because she is committed to doing it right the first time.”

“Liz genuinely cares about the quality of her work, her customers, and her co-workers, and that commitment shows in the numbers she consistently puts up every month. Her dedication, attention to detail, and willingness to hold herself accountable make her an incredible asset to our team. I am truly honored to have Liz on my team and grateful for everything she brings to the shop every day.”

And then came Tyler, one of our Paint & Body Technicians, and Liz’s husband. Spouses don’t typically get to weigh in on these, but since these two work together every single day, he’s earned it. (Side note: serious respect for the husband and wife teams of the world who can work together and not get sick of each other!)

Tyler said, “Not many people know that Liz is my wife, even though we work in the same shop. About a year and a half ago, we were hired on as a team in the paint shop to take care of the work that came through the department. The problem was, there simply wasn’t enough work coming into the paint shop for both of us to make the kind of paycheck we needed. That’s when I made a decision that wasn’t easy. I decided to leave the paint team and the shop entirely and pass the torch to Liz. I knew she had every angle covered. I knew she had the talent. Now it was her turn to carry that torch and show everyone what she could do with it. She was in tears, and I reassured her that she had what it took and that she was going to excel. She cried at home, and she cried at work through that first pay period. But she kept showing up.”

“And then she showed out.”

“Today, Liz runs the paint shop at our dealership by herself. Her hours are normally higher than everyone else’s, and the quality and quantity of work she produces speak for itself. As her husband, and as someone who has had the privilege of working alongside her for the past 10 years, I couldn’t be more proud of her. I’ve watched her push through the hard days, build her confidence, and prove what she’s capable of. She didn’t just take the torch. She lit the damn thing up. These aren’t just cars anymore. They’re billboards. Every vehicle that rolls out of that shop is a reflection of her talent, dedication, and pride in what she does. Liz, watching you take that torch and run with it has made me one damn proud husband.”

Tyler failed to finish his story and mention the part that he came back to NIRVC, so I’ll just state the obvious. He’s also a 300 Club recipient, posting 300+ hours in Paint & Body for July.

Daniel Henderson, one of our RV Lifestyle Specialists, told me he “came to NIRVC with a background of 35+ years in the auto wholesale business. I’ve been in and out of body shops throughout those years and have done business with many talented painters. Liz’s talent is unmistakable and incredible. Liz is definitely at the top of the mountain in the paint world. But in addition to her talent, she is also, quite simply, a wonderful person. She has gone above and beyond to help make a coach look incredible and contribute her part to get that coach delivered to a satisfied customer. In my experience she’s been eager to help and always with a smile. It’s an absolute pleasure to have her on the team.”

And speaking of delivering coaches, Brandon Boisvert, our Walkthrough Specialist, said, “What stands out to me about Liz isn’t just the quality of her work; it’s the attitude she brings with it. She’s a great painter, a hard worker, and someone you can count on in the body shop. No matter how much she already has on her plate, she’s always willing to stop and help someone else when they need it. And somehow, through all of it, she’s still smiling and bringing a positive attitude every day. That kind of work ethic and willingness to help doesn’t go unnoticed. Liz is definitely one of those people who makes the team better just by being part of it. Keep doing what you do, Liz. It’s appreciated more than you realize.”

McKenna Johnson, our Assistant Service Advisor, wrote in to say, “I was so excited when I found out Liz is the Feel Good Friday this week! Liz is the kind of person you instantly love when you meet her. Like the rest have said, she has a passion for her work, and it shows. I usually only get to see her in passing, and when I do, she is usually complaining (in a good way) about how she is having to wait on something before starting her next project. As much as I love getting to see her in her downtime, it's obvious she would rather be working. It is hard to find people with a good work ethic, let alone one with the talent and personality she brings with it. This is her 2nd time hitting 300hrs! We are so proud of you, Liz!!”

And then came our Paint & Body Director, Rich Krause. Rich said, “Liz has been a critical part of the progress and turnaround we’ve seen in our Nashville Paint & Body shop. She stepped up, took on the paint work for the location, and has continued to deliver an outstanding level of quality, craftsmanship, and pride in everything she does.”

“What makes Liz stand out is not only her talent, but the attitude she brings with it every day. She holds herself to an incredibly high standard, takes the time to understand each job, and is committed to doing things the right way. At the same time, no matter how much she has on her plate, she is always willing to help someone else, support the team, and contribute to a positive work environment.”

“Her impact has helped raise the standard within our Paint & Body operation and has played an important role in building a strong reputation for NIRVC Nashville. Liz’s work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to help, and positive attitude make the people around her better and help create the kind of shop culture we are proud of. Thank you, Liz, for your hard work, dedication, talent, and the difference you continue to make every day. We are grateful to have you on the team!”

I was able to catch up with Brett earlier today while he was at the airport (shocker) heading back from the Balloon Festival Rally. Brett was short on time, but heavy on his praise for Liz. As we talked, he reiterated his own hiring preferences (which he is not at all shy about). Brett told me, “As you are well aware, I have a couple demographics that I love to see in an employee. One is former military because I know the military has already taught them not to watch the clock and to complete the mission. The second is women because there are no better problem solvers and multi-taskers than mothers. Women also bring a unique presence to business that helps foster a family within the workplace and builds trust with our customers. I heard that Liz has been a heavy hitter with billed hours these last few months, posting over 300 hours, more than once during that same timeframe. It is not lost on me that as a wife and mother, she has a lot on her mind because her roles at home demand a lot from her; yet, here she is completely holding her own in an industry that is dominated by men. It just makes me grateful and proud that she found and made her home at NIRVC. Just in the last few months, I’ve heard from a number of customers whose coaches she’s done paint work on, and all of them have commented that with Liz’s work, you can’t even tell that anything was ever repaired. That is music to my ears because if we are going to guarantee our paint and body work for life, then I only want the best in our shop. Liz, thank you for being the best!”

Feel Good Friday: The Creative Problem Solver

I am so thrilled to tell you about our new Field Sales Rep in Phoenix, Lisa Czyznik. Although she is new to this position, she is not new to NIRVC. Lisa has been our Receptionist in Phoenix since April of last year. I ‘got to know’ Lisa because she would think of something that Phoenix could use and send an email. Or, she would reply to a request before anyone else, and her responses were always incredibly intelligent and thoughtful.

When Leigh Tiffin came on board, he issued a ‘Single Best Idea’ initiative, allowing employees to submit ideas that would improve their job, the company, the customer experience – literally anything. And Lisa submitted several very thoughtful ideas that brought her name to the forefront during some senior leadership meetings. In short, Lisa took her job as a Receptionist and magnified it well beyond.

As Leigh set out to hire a new rep to sell storage in Phoenix, Lisa was a natural fit. I’ve gotten to work with her the past couple of weeks, helping to get her set up and ready for her new role. Every communication I have with her is so delightful! She’s genuinely such a thoughtful person who cares so much about her job.

As I reached out to her team for their input, our General Sales Manager, Ryan Kline, was the first to respond. Ryan told me, “Love seeing Lisa getting recognized! Lisa has been a great addition to the Arizona team. She is great to work with, brings a great attitude to work every day, and always puts her best foot forward.”

“Every customer she interacts with leaves the conversation smiling or in a happier mood. She is always smiling, taking care of business, and making sure things get done. Lisa is very organized and detail-oriented, so you never have to worry about a task not getting completed when it is in her hands.”

“And, of course, Lisa is our coffee expert, making sure the team is always caffeinated and ready to tackle the day. She usually tells me that I need to consume less caffeine and that it's contributing to me not sleeping. Well, she needs to stop making such good coffee then! 😂”

“I am very excited to see Lisa continue to grow with NIRVC and to see her excel in her new role in Field Sales. She is definitely an asset to the team, and this recognition is well deserved. Congratulations, Lisa!”

Next up was Matthana Sanmur, our Office Manager. Matthana said, “Lisa is such an amazing addition to the team. She has such a positive aura and takes pride in everything she does and always comes to work with a smile and a great attitude. She truly cares for our customers and wants what is best for the company. She is always coming up with ideas to help elevate us as a whole; her optimistic approach is invaluable. I’m very grateful to have her on our team.”

Andre Gonzalez, our Paint & Body Manager, said that “Lisa has been an incredible asset to our location and has made a lasting impact during her time as our receptionist. From the very beginning, she has shown initiative, ownership, and a genuine desire to make things better - not just for herself, but for everyone who steps into the role after her.”

“One of the best examples of this is the initiative she took to create standardized operating procedures for many aspects of the receptionist position. By documenting processes and creating consistency, Lisa has made her own job more efficient while also leaving behind valuable tools and resources that will benefit the next person who takes on the role. That kind of forward-thinking mindset is something we truly appreciate.”

“We have been proud to have Lisa be the face of our location, greeting and taking care of every NIRVC guest who walks through our doors. She understands what the NIRVC Way means and consistently demonstrates it through her exceptional customer service, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond. Her customer service is truly unmatched.”

“Lisa has been a tremendous part of our team, and we’re grateful for everything she has contributed at the front desk. We’re even more excited to see her take the next step in her NIRVC journey and continue making an impact. I’m excited to see what great ideas she has for her new role.”

Tino Beltran, our General Manager in Phoenix, was the last person I heard from before I called Brett. Tino’s email said, “I remember the day we interviewed Lisa for the receptionist position. She was welcoming everyone in the lobby with a big, bright smile, and that positive energy has continued ever since she joined our Phoenix team.”

I love that even on the day she was interviewing, she was greeting everyone! I feel like that is just who Lisa is.

Tino continued, saying, “Lisa has been an incredible support to our Phoenix team. She is always happy to help anyone and does it with such a positive and energetic attitude. Our customers absolutely love her, and I constantly receive compliments about how amazing she is and how well she takes care of our guests.”

“Lisa also brings great ideas on how we can improve our dealership. She is always thinking of creative ways to promote our discounts, promotions, and events through social media, and I truly appreciate her initiative and willingness to help our dealership succeed. Lisa and her husband, Pete, have also become great friends and supporters of our team and dealership. They are always finding ways to support us, whether it’s helping with cookouts for our customers or stepping in to help with many other things. And soon, their son will be joining our Service Team! I can’t wait to have him become part of the Phoenix family. I am very happy and thankful to have Lisa on our Phoenix team. We are lucky to have you, Lisa!”

I was excited to grab Brett between meetings this afternoon to ask him about Lisa. Brett told me that one of his biggest reliefs in Phoenix was knowing that Lisa was the one to greet and take care of our customers because she makes an incredible first, second, and third impression. He said she’s always so welcoming when he visits, and then he said, “what I didn’t realize until after Leigh’s best idea initiative was that she’s a creative thinker and problem solver. You simply cannot have enough of those types of people in a company. I love that she has the ability to notice a problem, present a solution, and improve the company. That kind of attitude and innate ability will carry her far at NIRVC, and I’m so grateful she’s found a home here.”

How do I even put into words what Tommy meant to me?

I met Tommy and Bonnie at my very first rally at Buckhorn Resort in Texas. Not only did they become dear friends, but from day one, they took care of me. If you watch the video (in comments), Tommy tells the story of how nervous I was when I presented them with his first deal with NIRVC! He wasn’t exaggerating! 😂 I was terrified! How lucky was I to meet two such amazing people at my very first rally?

As I spent so much time on the road, the Townsends became my home away from home. I always knew they were looking out for me. Whether it was letting me know who was interested in a new coach, finding me a jacket when I needed one, making sure I had something to eat, or giving me a seat in their coach for a quick cat nap during a long day, they were always there. For me and for NIRVC, they gave their time, their friendship, their support, and their hearts in so many ways.

And Tommy…he was the life of the party. The king of the one-liners! He had an incredible gift for making the new guy feel like he’d been part of the group forever. He could make you laugh when you needed it most. His shoes are simply too big to ever be filled.

My heart aches for Bonnie. The love those two shared was something truly special, ❤️a relationship we could all admire and hope to emulate.

When I spoke with Bonnie yesterday, she told me that even while Tommy was struggling in the hospital, he was still making sure she was eating and taking care of herself. That was Tommy! Even when he was the one who needed care, he was still taking care of his Bonnie. ❤️

Tommy, now it’s our turn to take care of your sweet Bonnie. We won’t ever do it as well as you did, but we promise we’ll do our best.

I love you, Tommy. I will miss you more than I can say. Thank you for taking care of me, making me laugh, and becoming such an important part of my life.

Until we meet again, my friend. ❤️

Love,

Angie

09/27/2026

Good morning, NIRVC and AIM Club families,

It is through tears I have not been able to control, and with a heavy and broken heart, that I am writing this message. My dear friend. Our dear friend. Tommy Townsend passed to the other side this morning at 3:58 a.m.

Angie and I met Tommy at breakfast the morning of May 23, 2015, and both our lives, along with NIRVC, would never be the same again. But especially my life.

I was immediately drawn to Tommy. He quickly became a dear friend, then he filled the role of the father I hadn’t had for 35 years. I had one brother, who I lost unexpectedly in 2011, and Tommy filled that hole in my life too. But it didn’t stop there. Tommy quickly filled the role of a grandfather, or more like a great-grandfather, to my grandchildren Ryan and Ashley, to the point they always wanted to know if Tommy was coming today. From gifts to donuts and everything in between, Tommy was a grandparent to them. My mother was living with me in my coach at the time, and Tommy was more thoughtful and attentive to her than I had been as a son. It was Tommy who noticed her struggling to make the first step into my motorhome, so he bought a nice wide platform she could step onto, making the next step a piece of cake.

Tommy went from our May 23, 2015 meeting to filling those roles in my life in a blink of an eye. So much so that I have never once thought of Tommy as a customer. That bridge was skipped over. I experienced a familial love with Tommy I didn’t think was possible outside of immediate family.

I remember asking Tommy in Sturgis, South Dakota if he would consider being the President of the All Inclusive Motorhome Club that NIRVC was starting. There was no hesitation. The excitement was real. And he has built the second largest motorhome club in the industry in his image. A rally isn’t a rally without Tommy. But that was only a small fraction of what he and Bonnie did behind the scenes. Tommy wanted to be parked and set up by 3:00 p.m. in every campground they stayed in. He wanted time to go and knock on the doors of every motorhome owner in the park and tell them about AIM. I can’t even begin to recite the number of times I have met coach owners and so wanted to introduce them to Tommy, but without exception, they had all already met Tommy. A campground, a fueling station, a show, a rally, you name it. If you were meeting Tommy for the first time, you were going to hear about AIM.

Teasing and trouble-making was Tommy’s love language. And he was very good at both. Yes, I am so going to miss his teasing, but above all, I’m just missing my friend so much that it hurts.

I could go on and on about our Tommy. This was intended to be a short message to let our NIRVC and AIM families know about Tommy’s passing, but that was before I was overtaken by emotions and memories. Again. I will close with something I have written once before, but I feel it is appropriate again today.

“Some people come into our lives, stay awhile, make footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.”

Tommy has left his footprints on countless hearts. But the biggest footprints on my heart have been left by Tommy. I am not the same. I will never be the same. And I would not trade a day of it.

To our lovely Bonnie, and to Tommy’s family, I need you to know this. He was loved. Deeply. And we are with you.

With profound sadness and a deep sense of loss,

Brett

Feel Good Friday: Mina the Cleanuh

Aloha! This week’s Feel Good Friday is Lemina Sufia, our Detail Technician in Las Vegas. Right from the start, Paul Morrow, our GM in Vegas told me that Mina is originally from Hawaii and not matter what is going on, she will always have a flower in her hair.

To kick things off, Paul emailed me and said, “I was thrilled to learn that this week’s Feel Good Friday would feature Lemina. Lemina is a true rockstar at the Las Vegas location and has been working hard at NIRVC for six years. Her dedication is clearly reflected in how she maintains the office and how every coach's interior is standing tall for blue bows. One of my daily highlights is coming into work and being greeted by Lemina with a ‘morning boss’ and a smile as she prepares a coach for its new owner. It truly doesn’t get any better than that. Lemina, we are so glad you are part of the Las Vegas NIRVC family. Mahalo for all you do.”

As I reached out to the team in Vegas, the group chat blew up with love for Mina very quickly. Sherrell Savage, our Warranty Manager, was the first to hit the team chat. Sherrell said, “Where to start?! Mina is a light here at NIRVC and always has a friendly and positive attitude. She’s always working hard behind the scenes and keeps our shop fresh and clean and ready for a new day! She takes great care to get the customer’s coaches, getting them ready for delivery, and you can tell she really puts her heart into her work. Mina is a gem!”

Next up was Suzanne Goins, our Office Manager. Suzanne said, “Mina is our sunshine around here! Every day she is smiling and always happy! This building looks incredible and that is all due to her. People walk in every day and state how clean our shop and the building is, and that just re-enforces the job she does every day. She is a true treasure, and I for one am grateful she's found a home with us. You make us shine Mina! Thank you!”

At that point, Harrison Moser, our Paint & Body Advisor, joined the chat to say, “Miiiiiinnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaa the Cleanuhhhhh! Every morning when I get to work, Mina is usually the first person I see. She always has a smile on her face and tells me 'Good morning!' No matter what messes are made, Mina never complains and always gets the job done, beautifully! Mina is the true backbone to NIRVC Las Vegas because she makes sure the building is clean, and the customer units are presentable for their departure! I love, Mina! She's the absolute best! 🙂❤️“

Then came Astro, our Wash & Detail Manager, and Mina’s direct boss. Astro said, “Words cannot express how amazing Mina is! She is hands down one of the most incredible people, and she absolutely deserves this recognition! Mina is not only an amazing person, but she does an amazing job every single day. Someone might look around and think we have several interior cleaners because our offices and coaches are always kept so clean. But nope, it’s all Mina! A job that could easily take two people, Mina handles all on her own.”

Holy. Cow. I genuinely had no idea they only had one interior cleaner and custodian in Las Vegas. What an incredibly efficient worker – no doubt she is the backbone holding that place together!

Astro continued, “I’ve asked Mina many times if she needs help, and she always tells me that she’s more than happy to take care of everything herself. That says so much about the kind of person she is; hardworking, dependable, and always willing to go the extra mile. I’ve known Mina for about five years, and I’m truly grateful to have her in my life and to have her as part of the NIRVC family. Mina, you are amazing, and we all love and appreciate you! Thank you for always bringing positivity when things get cloudy and for being the sunshine that everyone needs. I wish nothing but the best for you, Mina, and I hope I get to work alongside you for many, many years to come! And as I always say… Happy Mina, happy life! ❤️”

One of our RV Lifestyle Specialists, Gary Press, chimed in to say, “Mina is always so helpful a joyful person a pleasure to work with. Thank you for all you do!”

Next, Richard Cardosi, our Service Advisor, joined the chat to say, “I'm not so great at the wording but can't pass up the chance to praise Mina. She is definitely deserving of all the praise! I also see her pretty much every morning when I arrive, and it's always a bright spot of the day. You can just feel the warmth and happiness from her daily. Mina is always smiling and is always a bright spot in the day when you are anywhere near Mina.”

Jase Smith, our Service Manager, said “Mina is truly amazing. She brings an amazing attitude to work every day, along with her Hawaiian heritage and that positive spirit she carries with her. I spend a lot of time around her when I’m setting up blue bows, and she’s back there making dreams come true. She makes the repairs we do shine and makes our sales units look clean and ready to go. A lot of what she does happens behind the scenes, but it makes a huge difference in how our customers see the finished product. Thank you, Mina, for everything you do and for bringing that great attitude every day!”

The last person from Las Vegas to send in a group chat was Jose Miranda, one of our newest RV Lifestyle Specialists. Jose said, “Everyone's kind words are spot on. I have only been here for 90 days, and I can with certainty agree with everyone’s responses. As an RV Lifestyle Specialist, I've only seen her when she is making the rigs standing tall and does a great job making them shine. The couple times I've had the pleasure to speak with her, those interactions have been positive and welcoming. Her smile is contagious and you can't help finding yourself smiling also for that day. Thank you, Lemina Sufia, for everything you do.”

And finally, I caught Brett during a break from filming a new video today. While he was very short on time, he was ready to talk about Mina. Brett said, “I’m pretty sure that Mina has been there in Vegas from the day we opened our doors. She’s the one in our detailing pictures on the website, and every time I see her, she’s smiling with a flower in her hair. She keeps that dealership, and every coach on it, standing tall. She is one of the hardest workers we have, and I’m incredibly grateful for the efficient way she approaches her job. And she’s always positive! The woman happily churns through some of the hardest work, in some of the hottest temperatures, and never complains. We are so lucky to have her, and I hope she never leaves us!”
