"Another Classic: The Pristine 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible – A Timeless Beauty"
In an era where automotive designs can remain unchanged for a decade, it's remarkable to think of an automaker producing stunning, distinct designs for five consecutive years. Between 1955 and 1959, Chevrolet achieved this feat, and each model from that period has become a revered classic.
Among these, the 1959 Impala stands out as one of the most coveted cars of its time, with freshly restored convertibles like this one reminding us why. There is simply nothing like it on the road today. This iconic model features a desirable tri-power 348ci V8 engine, a Powerglide automatic transmission, and a striking red-on-red color scheme guaranteed to turn heads. Equipped with options like power steering, dual antennas, dual rear-view mirrors, and back-up lights, this car offers plenty of extras to enjoy. Having been driven just 4 miles since its restoration, everything is showroom new and ready for the show field. If you want to see your name on future trophies, take a moment to appreciate this '59 Impala convertible.
The marketing buzzwords for late 1950s cars were "longer, lower, and wider," and the Impala embodied all three. The roofline was lower, the car was genuinely wider, and where the fins once pointed upward, the '59 model’s fins extended further back. Restoring these cars involves working with a lot of metal and ensuring continuous lines are perfect, a challenge this Impala meets beautifully. Panel gaps are even, and the sides of the car reveal straight panels all around. The body, shown in Roman Red, has paintwork that’s just as impeccable as the metal beneath it. When the weather turns, the white convertible top provides protection and a striking contrast against the red paint.
Beyond the overall view, there are countless details to admire across this nearly 17.5-foot cruiser. The show starts with a bright nose featuring dual headlights on either side of a toothy stainless grille. A full-width chrome bumper with rubber bullets and an integrated license plate recess complements vents on either side of the Chevrolet badge, drawing cool air through the hood. The sides showcase a full-length trim strip topped with cross-flags and Impala lettering, while the fenders are adorned with a stainless piece that disappears at the windshield and reemerges at the fins. Mix these elements with chrome door handles, rear-view mirrors, and mirror-like rocker trim, and watch quick glances turn into long stares. The rear view is instantly recognizable with its V-shape created by the fins, filled in by "cat eye" taillights, a crisp Chevrolet badge, and a chrome bumper neatly housing the optional reverse lights below.
