Recently I was asked to write an opinion on this Stone Chip repair which was done by another Glass company. You can clearly see in the picture that it isn't completely filled. I was asked if I thought the chip would continue to spread and there is always potential for this to happen when a chip is not filled completely. Many times you can see if a chip has been filled prior by looking at the impact. Many Repair companies drill into the impact to open up the area in order to fill the chip successfully. If you look closely you can tell if a chip was repaired by the color in the impact. A good repair will have a fine hair line where the crack is. It is just filled with resin that fills the void then cured with an ultra violet light. This process actually pulls the crack together as it cures and shrinks.
Every crack is different and the quality of a repair is determined by the type of crack, the age, quality of resin and the person doing the repair. I hope this helps.
