Please send vehicle info and location with your first message. Hi, I’m John Fischer 5th, the owner and lead mechanic of Carma Repairs. I’ve been passionate about working on vehicles my entire life and bring over 3 years of professional shop experience plus years of hands-on repair and maintenance across a wide variety of vehicles. I’ve worked in both independent shops and larger service centers, i

ncluding time as a mechanic at Mavis Tire and as an emergency vehicle service technician. That background taught me the importance of precision, safety, and keeping vehicles reliable under pressure. After leaving the shop environment, I’ve continued repairing and rebuilding vehicles — everything from daily driver maintenance on my family's vehicle's,friend's vehicle's, to my truck's full engine rebuild, transmission service's, brakes, suspension, A/C, diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting. With Carma Repairs, I bring the same professional service to you, conveniently mobile, so your car gets fixed where you are. I follow manufacturer torque specifications, use proper procedures, and provide clear inspections and documentation with every job. Whether you need routine maintenance, pre-purchase inspections, or more in-depth repairs, my goal is simple: to keep your vehicle safe, reliable, and running the way it should — with honesty and care. I know first hand the trouble's,time, upsell and unfair pricing at a shop and my main reason for this start up is helping those in need on a budget!

Back out this morning with a returning customer’s 2012 Scion xD for the next round of preventive maintenance. 🔧

Today’s list:

- Engine air filter
- Cabin air filter
- Serpentine belt
- Cooling-system service
- Brake-fluid exchange
- Recheck of the minor oil seep noted during the last inspection

This car only has about 31,000 miles, but age still matters. Low mileage doesn’t stop coolant, brake fluid, rubber belts, filters, batteries, and seals from getting old.

The goal is simple: handle maintenance before it turns into a breakdown, and explain what actually needs attention instead of just throwing parts at the car.

🔧 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 — P0449 EVAP Diagnosis

Out this morning diagnosing a very clean 2008 Corvette Z51 with only 32,677 miles.

Customer had a check-engine light with P0449 — EVAP Vent Solenoid Control Circuit.

Instead of replacing parts based on the code alone, we verified the failure:

• Full-system scan
• Bidirectional vent-solenoid command with the Autel MK900-BT
• No response/click from the vent valve
• Power verified at the circuit
• Direct resistance test of the vent solenoid showed an open internal coil

✅ Confirmed failed EVAP canister vent solenoid.

Correct diagnosis first, parts second.

🔧 Today at Carma Repair — Two Jobs, Same Lesson: Proper Diagnostics Matter

Today showed why diagnostics is more than reading codes and replacing parts.

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 3.6L

This came in as a no-start after an electrical short during a battery replacement damaged the ECM. The ECU had already been repaired, so the first step was ensuring the vehicle was safe to power up.

I checked ECU connectors, wiring, grounds, fuses, and battery connections, then verified system health with the Autel MK900-BT and Mitchell ProDemand.

The Atlas started right up. ✅

Charging was stable at ~14.4V, live data was normal, no misfires, and all systems passed after reset and road test.

2014 Honda Odyssey

This started as a stall/no-start, but the vehicle was found partially disassembled from prior repair attempts:

• Timing components removed/damaged
• Fuel line unsecured
• Grounds and connectors disconnected
• Battery discharged

After restoring a ground, the engine systems came back online—but a fuel leak appeared immediately.

Testing stopped for safety.

Before any diagnosis continues, the vehicle must be returned to a safe mechanical state.

Next steps:

• Replace timing belt and tensioner
• Inspect timing components
• Verify cam/crank timing
• Repair fuel connection
• Reassemble systems
• Charge battery
• Perform compression test before further diagnosis

Two different vehicles, same principle:

Verify before powering up—and know when not to proceed.

No guessing. No parts cannon. Diagnose, verify, repair safely, and confirm the result.

🔧 2011 Cadillac SRX — Front Suspension & Brake Repair

Another mobile repair completed in Toms River.

This SRX came in needing both front lower control arms replaced, along with a front brake inspection and pad replacement. Before starting, I performed a general vehicle inspection and scan, verified the customer-supplied parts, and checked the vehicle over for any additional concerns.

Work completed:

- Both front lower control arm assemblies replaced
- Front brake pads replaced
- Rotors inspected and found serviceable
- All suspension hardware torqued to factory specifications
- Final road test performed

During the inspection I also found a leaking exhaust flex pipe, seeping transmission cooler lines, an overdue/very low engine oil condition, and a license plate bulb out. Battery, starting, and charging systems were tested with the Autel equipment and passed.

The customer was advised to have an alignment performed following the suspension work.

Wrapped up a 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE with front and rear brake work and a full once-over.

Found the front brakes grinding metal to metal, rear rotor barely grabbing, oil a little over ½ quart low, air filter getting due, third brake light out, and slight beginning play in the passenger outer tie rod. Belt and visible fluid areas looked good, tire pressures were set to 33 PSI, wheels torqued, and all other exterior lights checked out.

Road tested after the brake job — everything is stopping properly. New pads/rotors had a little initial bedding-in noise, but it was already quieting down after a couple laps.

Car is back together and good to go. 🔧

Neighbors 2013 Hyundai Sonata A/C repair.

The system was professionally recovered first, and now I’m replacing the leaking suction/liquid A/C line assembly, transferring the pressure sensor, installing fresh O-rings and service-port seals, then pulling vacuum and recharging the system properly.

No blind “just throw a can in it” repairs — diagnose, verify, repair. 🔧❄️

Quick follow-up visit today on Carol’s 2012 Scion xD.
Replaced the 6-year-old battery with a new DieHard Gold Group 35, cleaned up the connections, preserved vehicle memory during the swap, and verified everything came back online normally. 🔋
This is exactly why maintenance matters on a low-mileage older vehicle — the car only has about 31,000 miles, but age still catches up with components like batteries, fluids, belts, and filters.
No guesswork, no unnecessary repairs. Just keeping a clean car reliable.
