996 GT3 Colfax Edition — The Story of the Build…

What started as a well‑worn, well‑loved 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 — our former track car — became the most ambitious restoration project Porsche Denver West has ever taken on. Instead of choosing a low‑mileage collector piece, we chose a GT3 with real history. A car that lived exactly as Porsche intended: on track, at speed, earning every mile.

From day one, the mission was clear — preserve its soul, elevate its legacy, and create something that felt authentically Porsche while imagining what a modern‑day Sonderwunsch interpretation of a 996 GT3 could look like.

The result: GT3 Colfax Edition. A name that honors more than 40 years of Porsche Denver West on Colfax Avenue and ties the build to the community that shaped us.

The transformation was total. The car was stripped down to bare metal, inspected, rebuilt, and reimagined. Gulf Blue paint with Gulf Orange accents pays tribute to Porsche’s racing heritage. The interior channels motorsport energy with custom Spirit of Le Mans fabric and hand-painted Gulf Orange accents. The electro‑hydraulic steering system sourced from a 996 Cup car brings genuine race‑bred technology into the build, sharpening every input and amplifying the driving experience.

Balancing originality with personalization became the project’s heartbeat. Every choice — every finish, every component, every detail — was weighed against authenticity. Not a factory restoration. Not a replica. Instead, a vision of what Porsche Motorsport might create today if handed a 996 GT3 and told to dream.

This wasn’t just a build. It became a dealership‑wide rally. Porsche‑certified technicians, body and paint specialists, parts experts, service advisors, leadership — every department touched this car. And the Porsche community followed along as each milestone unfolded, culminating in a rally and full video production celebrating the finished GT3 and the enthusiasts who championed it.

GT3 Colfax Edition now stands as a one‑of‑a‑kind 996 GT3 — a tribute to Porsche racing, to craftsmanship, to teamwork, and to the heritage of Colfax Avenue that continues to define Porsche Denver West.
