Shane was a great guy and great racer..... RIP pal....
The Pro Mod community is mourning the loss of Shane Molinari, a respected West Coast racer and one of the most admired personalities in the doorslammer pits. Molinari passed away following a crash at Sonoma Raceway at the age of 59.
For nearly two decades, the Battle Ground, Washington native was a familiar face on the drag racing scene, known not only for his competitiveness on the track but also for his warmth and generosity in the pits. His breakthrough moment came in 2017 when he drove his turbocharged 1968 Firebird to his first NHRA Pro Mod victory in Norwalk, recording an impressive 5.779-second pass at 257 mph.
But beyond the trophies and records, Shane was remembered for his passion, perseverance, and the friendships he built throughout the sport. A racer who gave everything he had, he leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered far beyond the finish line.
