I had some people reach out about doing a pre hurricane Geocaching trip.
I said it sounded like a bad idea , what time do we meet. 🤪
Off we went braving the high winds and low water on the lake.
We were able to get most caches without getting to wet and we beat the storms
Now it’s off for some inland caching. 😎🏴‍☠️

I had the opportunity to get some people that are new to Geocaching out on the water today.
Learning as they go and armed with nothing more than pure enthusiasm they braved the overcast skies , low water and mild temps.
They found every cache they set out to find with eager anticipation for the next one.
We made it back to the dock and they went on their way in search of more caches.

On today’s trip out we had Gilligan and MaryAnn They put together a CITO event this morning and it’s Shore Sweep weekend...

On today’s trip out we had Gilligan and MaryAnn
They put together a CITO event this morning and it’s Shore Sweep weekend on Lake Lanier.
They traveled here from Tacoma Washington to get some caches and planned to participate in the shore sweep event.
I get the pleasure of meeting some incredible people and was super proud to have these two on my boat today.
They really embody what I think a geocacher really is.

A THREE HOUR TOUR
The weather forecast promised a hot day. When we got about half way through the tour it was a unanimous decision that the weather forecast was correct.
Ready for anything this group went up and down the hills like pros. The Joro spiders and webs were pushed away and they trudged through to complete their mission.
Battling near heat exhaustion and several wildlife encounters they were Triumphant. In the end they obtained all the caches they had set out to get and completed the mission.

Overcast skies on an August morning in Georgia is the best time to go Geocaching for sure.

Eric reached out to me and insisted that he get his crew out on the lake to find some caches on Lake Lanier.
I had him and his crew meet me and we went from there.
A hearty crew they are armed only with cell phones and water bottles they braved the heat and cut their way through the spider webs.
As we approached Pirates of Misty Cove they were down to their last bit of refreshing water and nursing mosquito bites from what can only be described as Amazonian size skeeters. They rallied back and pushed on.
Pirates of Misty Cove a puzzle cache put up a fight but this crew worked together and finished strong. 💪

Carol called and said Clementine was ready to get Marooned. So you know me I said let’s do it.
We met up and they braved the harsh conditions that a sunny 80* morning can dish out.
They made finding caches look easy while storming sandy beaches.
Battling a light breeze they persevered and came out triumphant with everything they were looking for.
