$110,000

Originally purchased at Barrett-Jackson’s January 2012 Scottsdale auction, lot 1571.2. The auction is available through their website. The condition is a solid #2. Hagerty lists it at $126,000 in #2 condition

Documentation including a 2006 magazine article featuring this car, original Certi-Card, and a Galen Govier report that came with the car from purchase.

Originally red on red. Interior is original and red; exterior was repainted white sometime in the 1990s, apparently. It’s a very nice paint job, but not perfect.

The car now has 34,000+ miles; it’s been sparingly driven in the past 10 years, and it’s been kept inside the entire time.

Comes with its original steel wheels with bias-ply tires in addition to the American Racing wheels and 2014-era tires on the car.

Motor was properly rebuilt within the past year; transmission, which worked fine, was also rebuilt, as were the dual 4-barrel carburetors. It also comes with its original and working direct-drive starter, which was unique to this year and motor. That starter works, but was replaced on the car with an aftermarket gear reduction starter specific for this year and motor to preserve the original one in working condition.

Car can be seen in the Orlando, Florida area

SOLD

This 1988 Acura Legend L is finished in Florence Blue Metallic over blue leather and is powered by a 2.7-liter V6 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a sunroof, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning/climate control, factory computerized information center (as seen in various photos), factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, dashboard storage compartment, central armrest and door armrest storage compartments, rear defroster, and a custom but unattached dash cover.

We purchased the car at the Old Town Car Show in Kissimmee, Florida in March 2009 from an individual showing it there; copy of the previous title is included, and indicates that this individual had owned the car since July 2008. A sticker on the radiator bracket under the hood indicates that the air conditioning system was converted to R134a on July 9, 2005 in Sea Cliff, New Jersey. The air conditioning currently functions properly.
We used the car as a daily driver for approximately 9 problem-free months, and stored the car away with a tank full of ethanol-free gasoline in early 2013. Fuel rail seals were replaced earlier in 2021, and the car started and ran with no issues when a new battery was installed. Other recent work includes a new windshield, new right front brake caliper, six new brake lines, a new alternator, and a coolant system flush and fill. Receipts will be provided for all this and previous work noted below as well.

Items replaced in April 2009 at Courtesy Acura in Sanford, Florida were: head cover gasket, cylinder head gasket, oil pan gasket, hood struts, clutch pedal stopper, and power antenna. The radiator and radiator cap were replaced by the same dealer in May 2009, and the front brake rotors were refinished there in June 2009. Front brake rotors were then replaced by the dealer in October 2009. Four new Michelin Pilot Exalto 205/60R-15 tires were mounted to the original wheels in April 2009, and are still on the car.

Mecum Auctions every January in Kissimmee, Florida gets better every year. We spent most of tonight on the edge of the red carpet by the auction block with a client; our gold bidder passes now get access that the general paying public doesn’t to both the auction block and up-close lot viewing of higher-end lots. It’s no secret that prices are moving up; in many cases last year’s retail is below today’s wholesale price levels. If you’ve bought a nice car (or cars!) in the past couple of years, you’ve probably done quite well!

It’s always good to see one of our old cars find a new home! We bought this 304 V8-powered original 1975 AMC Hornet X at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach in November 2011, and it found a new home with a gentleman on the west coast last year...until it was spotted by another west coast gentleman, who had to add it to his collection! AMCs are truly finding their footing in the collector world.

We’re staying in. We hope that all of you who are able to stay in are as well, right now. So today, we had a 1UZ car wash day and cleaned up our 35,000-km 1990 Toyota Crown and our recently-acquired 33,000-km 1995 Toyota Celsior. Usually here crisis = hurricane. The weather was beautiful in Orlando today, so we made the best of the current situation and gave our 1UZs a little love! Be safe, be kind, check on a neighbor, foster a dog or cat, and use this time as best as you are able.

Many thanks to Chris Lancaster at The Garage Orlando for fixing the hand-crank windows and their regulators, hideaway wipers, and dash in our 66,000-mile 1979 Chrysler Newport Limited Edition! Many of the parts needed have not been available new for years, and the limited run of this body style (the R platform) from 1979-1981 has assured that VERY few used parts and NOS parts are available anywhere, so he had to rely on sparse aftermarket support and, especially, his own ingenuity to fabricate/design/weld what was needed. This is one of the few 1979 Mopars of any type with a fully operational dash, thanks to Chris! And yes, it has full analog gauges, and they work and are accurate. Powered by a 318-cubic-inch V8, it has plenty of torque around town and runs and shifts as well as it did 41 years ago.
