Friday night racing at Tri-City was cancelled because of the uncertainty of rain. We went to Merritt Speedway last night. Qualifying wasn’t great. Someone had the front breaks turned on. Heat race was looking good. So good he was at the top of the track and hit a 2 foot rut that basically ripped his front bumper and nose piece off. He decided to just make a lap in the feature and pull off. We watched an action packed feature that looked like it was a good one to miss. The second place car and first place car wrecked together on the last lap. Then on the restart there was a big wreck in the front straightaway. A lot of cars need a ton of work. On the way home Rod hit a deer with the truck,,,,, messed up another bumper. If that wasn’t enough he had to hit an opossum too. Sounds like a rough night but it was still a great night with family!

We raced at Merritt Speedway tonight. Only the second time Rod has ever been there. He didn’t qualify great. During the heat race he was getting adjusted to the new car and track and the car looked better. Then in the feature instead of driving around Rod they tried to drive through him. He took quite a ride, with a lot of air in turn 1. He’s not hurt and the car can be fixed.

On Labor Day 2019 Rod Laney Sr.’s dad passed away. We wanted to do something special for his dad to memorialize him and his love for racing. So, I present to you a tribute car in Ray Laney’s memory. This car resembles one of Rays cars from the past and also has his number “57” on it. ❤️❤️ fan of “57” forever! Thank you Ray Musser for all your help and hard work to make this happen! I know your grandpa is smiling down from heaven!
